Demon Hunter have revealed that they have enlisted Jeremiah Scott (the Showdown) as their new rhythm guitarist and that the now five-piece has finished tracking their new album. The record is tentatively scheduled for an April release.
“This record is without a doubt our most aggressive,” said vocalist and band co-founder Ryan Clark. “Every Demon Hunter record must be a step up from the last. I know that’s a goal for every band, but it seldom works that way–especially today, especially in metal. It seems like most bands’ prime years are long behind them. I refuse to let that be the case for us.
“We’ve been extremely underwhelmed with metal for the last five years or so, and that’s been the fuel to create this record. With an extreme over-saturation of false, fleeting, trend-hopping noise in today’s metal scene, we had to make something we’ve been longing to hear. Something truly meaningful and artistic. Something our fans would love and something that will turn the heads of those who have ignored us for the past decade.”
The band has also announced they will play a show at Seattle’s El Corazon on April 27.

Demon Hunter have released a new video for the track “LifeWar,” which is taken from the band’s latest album The World Is a Thorn. A digital deluxe version of the record has also been released today, featuring the music video for “Collapsing” and four acoustic songs, including a cover of Alice in Chains’ “Down in a Hole.”

“My favorite Slipknot song is ‘Duality.’ I remember first hearing the song when they debuted the music video, which added an amazing visual element. The gritty energy and stripped-down aesthetic really made the song feel that much more raw. I think this song is Slipknot at their most creative. I love the mix of heavy and melodic–it moves seamlessly between the two. This song is a perfect example of how pissed a song can sound without having to be full throttle the whole time. I love the subtle but eerie piano intro and the way Cory whispers the first six words. It’s haunting and beautiful at the same time. All of these delicate balances within the song bring even more meaning to the song’s title. This song has always been a source of creative inspiration for me. Songs like this are what bands like Demon Hunter strive to write. It’s got it all–heaviness, emotion, grit, power, melody, killer riffs–all wrapped up in a creative and unique package.”
