Last week, after Mike Reynolds of For Today made several controversial comments via Twitter, the metalcore band announced the guitarist’s departure.

The announcement, which was posted Friday, added that Reynolds plans to enroll in bible college to begin missions in the Middle East.

Last week, Reynolds Tweeted that “Homosexuality is a sin.” Shortly after posting his comments to Twitter, Reynolds added a post to Facebook, saying, “I love every member of the LGBT community and in no way want to simply isolate any individual group of people.”

The band and guitarist received negative responses from musicians and members of Enter Shikiri, Trivium, The Ghost Inside and more.

Reynolds will be replaced by former In the Midst of Lions guitarist Sam Penner during their upcoming Fight the Silence headlining tour with Memphis May Fire and Upon a Burning Body.

For Today frontman Mattie Montgomery addressed the issue in a video post, which you can check out below.
