Kill Devil Hill–the metal supergroup featuring former Pantera and Down bassist Rex Brown and ex-Black Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice–released their self-titled debut earlier this year. Today, they’re premiering the lyric video for standout track, “Voodoo Doll,” as well as sharing behind-the-scenes footage in which band members discuss the song. The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund held its first annual Awards Gala on November 1. The event will took place at the Playboy Mansion, and Dio’s former bandmate Geezer Butler, as well as Rita Haney, long-time girlfriend of the late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell, were honored. The event also included a silent auction, hosted by That Metal Show cohost and radio personality Eddie Trunk, as well as a performance by Asia, featuring John Payne. Kill Devil Hill, the new project featuring former Black Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice and ex-Pantera and Down bassist Rex Brown, have inked a record deal with SPV/Steamhammer. The band’s lineup is completed by vocalist Dew Bragg and guitarist Mark Zavon.
Appice commented on the signing by saying, “We are a new band with the power, energy, and history to stand out, create music, and be successful. We are proud to be with SPV, a label with the same attitude, talent, and drive!”
Brown was similarly enthusiastic, “It is with a great pleasure to be aboard the SPV Music Blanket. We are looking forward to a great new experience with a label that has put out many great metal records. Cheers!”
The band is currently working on their debut album with producer Warren Riker (Down, Corrosion of Conformity). The currently untitled record is tentatively scheduled for release in March, 2012.

Metal legend Ronnie James Dio—who fronted Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, Rainbow, and, of course, Dio, among others—passed away one year ago today. His final public appearance turned out to be the 2010 Revolver Golden Gods Awards where he received the Best Vocalist trophy. In remembrance of him, we have posted his acceptance of the award below and below that what became his final interview, with Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor and Sirius-XM personality Jose Mangin, which was conducted backstage at the award show.
Earlier this year, Revolver interviewed Dio’s wife, Wendy, in the January/February “Fallen Heroes” issue, available here—a portion of the purchase price goes to the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund (or you can donate directly here). We also honored Dio again at this year’s Revolver Golden Gods by renaming our Lifetime Achievement Award in his honor and by including him in our Fallen Heroes tribute video, viewable here.
