Today, RevolverMag.com presents the exclusive premiere of Upon Wings’ new music video for “Afterlife,” featuring guest vocals and production from Brett Hestla (Dark New Day, former Creed).
“The idea of the song, and the video, is based around the experience of losing a loved one and coming through that with the faith you’ll see that person again,” said frontwoman Anne Autumn Erickson (pictured above). “The vision for the video evolved over time. The idea was for a more traditional-looking video at first, but as we started to put together a theme, it took on a more contemporary feel.”
“Afterlife” is from the Michigan-based band’s upcoming EP by the same name, which will be released March 5. The single is available now from iTunes and AmazonMP3.
Kid Rock recording engineer and Grammy-nominated mixing engineer Glenn Brown mastered the EP, and more assistance came from Canadian producer and guitarist Kevin Jardine and drummer Peter Tzaferis. Recording sessions for the single took place at Johnny K’s Groovemaster Studios in Chicago, where Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Staind and countless others have laid down tracks.

“We want people to hear the words and music and feel the stories,” says singer Jackie LaPonza, who was recently named one of the Hottest Chicks in Metal by Revolver. “They need someone to keep telling them to stay true to themselves and not to give up or give in on their dreams no matter what others say. We’ve worked on what we do for such a long time now and we would really love to be doing it full time and doing it worldwide! We want to hit the ground running and never look back.”
UnSaid Fate also features guitarist Patrick Ols, bassist Donovan St. Clair and drummer Mike LaPonza.
Never Turning Back, which is being produced by Don DeBiase (Modern Day Escape, In Alcatraz 1962, Vanilla Ice) and mixed by Steve “Skinny” Felton (Mushroomhead), will be released a bit later this year. Check out the band’s remaining winter tour dates below.

Female-fronted alt-rock band Cusses released their self-titled debut album earlier this year. Now the group is unleashing the music video for the song, “Don’t Give In.”
“We wanted the video to symbolize the innocence of youth being exposed to the harsh realities of life,” says frontwoman Angel Bond. “The storyline is ultimately about the circle of life, and the good and bad distractions and influences as one goes through life.”

“A well-written album and a strong comeback for Carah-Faye Charnow.”
4. Rush, Clockwork Angels
“I’m really stoked to see a classic and legendary band like Rush release something that sounds so modern. I think a lot of ‘comeback releases’ sound entirely dated as if the band was too stubborn to evolve, but this is not the case with Rush.”
3. Lana Del Ray, Paradise EP
“I think Lana Del Rey is breathing new life into pop music. This follow-up EP to her debut, Born To Die, is melodically and lyrically rich and very sexy.”
2. Muse, The 2nd Law
“This album sounds like Queen from space. Muse is always three steps ahead sonically.”
1. Jack White, Blunderbuss
“This album was my favorite of the year. He makes an incredible solo artist and his songwriting only gets better as time goes on. I also love how he used two bands on this release, one with all women and one with all men.”
The reality-TV competition show France’s Got Talent recently got a much-needed blast of metal care of a girl named Rachel La Voix D’Homme, who shocked the judges and audience by covering the song “Permafrost” by Sybreed.
