Canadian metallers 3 Inches of Blood will be dropping their new album, Long Live Heavy Metal, on March 27. The record is the band’s follow-up to 2009′s Here Waits Thy Doom.

“Long Live Heavy Metal is the fifth chapter in the book of 3 Inches of Blood, and we couldn’t be more pleased and proud of our new onslaught of honest heavy metal,” says guitarist Justin Hagberg.

Vocalist Cam Pipes has similar feelings about the quality and significance of the record. “When a band is releasing a new record, they often speak about it being their most important work or best album to date,” says Pipes. “Regardless of how clichéd either statement may sound, I think we would say both apply to this album. All of us have a special feeling about this one. We’re more committed than ever to the cause of real, honest, no-bullshit heavy metal. No trends, no fucking around!”

3 Inches of Blood will be heading out on the Metal Alliance tour–beginning in March–with DevilDriver, Dying Fetus, the Faceless, Job for a Cowboy, Impending Doom, and Wretched. Dates below.

Drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne is keeping a blog for us so we don’t miss out on anything that goes down, both onstage and off. You can read part two right here and don’t forget to check back to Revolvermag.com over the coming weeks for further installments. In case you missed it, you can check out part one here.

Hi all. Phil here with another tour blog update. Shit has gotten kooky on the road since last time. Definitely wanna thank Jägermeister for hooking it up, it’s been a fun time with them sponsoring the tour. Plus, we get new hot Jäger girls at every show dishing out shots. And the groupies have been out of control! They’ve been clawing at our van windows when we pull into venues, and we need security to walk through them. We have been cleaning up, I mean look at this shit.

After all these years we’re finally living the rock-star dream.

The shows have been great, and all the bands and crew have been even cooler than we had first hoped. Also, now that we’re a ways into the tour, the bands are all well-oiled machines. We’re a caravan of road hardened warriors of rock, fueled by booze and weed, traveling through the wastelands to dominate the masses with brutality. Here’s a picture of us looking cool.

Just when everyone was getting fully settled into tour mode, we hit a little bump in the road. Btown, the drummer of Impending Doom, broke his hand. Fucking major bummer! They were pretty much up shit creek without a paddle, so I agreed to fill in on drums for them for the rest of tour. Double duty! I only had one day to learn their songs before our show in Denver. I definitely haven’t been that stressed at a show in a long time, and it didn’t help when I completely butchered certain parts of the set. We managed to make our way through it though, and at least left the crowd only partially covered in diarrhea.

Since then, shit has been fine, and it’s back to business as usual. Playing Studio Seven tonight in Seattle. Should be a good time as a bunch of our friends are coming out, and the sound at this venue is fucking crushing. Come by and say “Hi” to our merch guy Pete (below). He’s been known to accept handjobs for CDs, so don’t be shy. See ya!

Boston death/thrash metallers Revocation are currently traveling the U.S. in support of their recently released third album Chaos of Forms (Relapse), on the Jägermeister Presents tour with Chimaira (see all the dates here). You can read part one right here and don’t forget to check back to Revolvermag.com over the coming weeks for further installments.

Whats up everybody! Phil from Revocation here, giving you guys a little inside look at our U.S. tour with Chimaira and Impending Doom.

We started the tour with a bang, driving 12 straight hours on our way to Kent, Ohio! Wooo!!! We got to the venue early the next morning and met all the dudes we would be spending the next month with. Everybody is cool as hell, and almost everyone seems like they party, so, if things go the way I expect, it should be a very blurry month. The show was sweet and everyone killed it. A few minor technical difficulties, but that’s always the way the first show is. Everyone started feeling much better after hanging with a rep from Jägermeister for a few hours, and good times were had by all.

Woke up the next day and went to check out a potential new touring vehicle.

Unfortunately we were a few intergalactic credits short. Oh well, off to Baltimore!

Baltimore is always a great time because we know so many people there. After a swanky dinner of Maryland crab, we ripped our set, then slammed Natty Bohs and caught up with old friends. Also my experiment to see how tattoos heal on the road was a success. Results: infected!

Sorry, Paul, looks like all hells breakin’ loose in the form of a flesh eating staff infection! At least its not permanent. To Philly!

Philly is also always a fun city, and we were super pumped this time because we were playing the super sweet Trocadero, where Lamb of God filmed their Killadelphia DVD. The club is in the heart of Chinatown, and we had a badass dinner of hand drawn noodle soup. Our friends in Relapse came out to show some love, and we had a few drinks with a couple of the dudes from Baroness. It’s cool when a band you dig is also into you.

Woke up and had a heart-healthy breakfast at the famous John’s Roast Pork, which has the most boner-inducing cheesesteaks in the world. Fuck you, arteries!

Unfortunately we had a 13-hour drive to Joliet, so we didn’t get to pay homage to the mighty Rocky statue. Luckily we have a day off, so it’s time for a full day of driving, which means a shitload of Kiss and Howard Stern. Not the best way to spend a day off, but not the worst. Check back soon for updates, and make sure to come out and rip it with us when we come through your city. Let’s get weird!

Below, bassist David Sittig fills us in on that incident and two other experiences that nearly spelled doom for him and his bandmates.

On the edge
“We were going no faster than five miles per hour when our wheels started spinning, and our whole van and trailer did a full 360 in the middle of the highway with traffic all around us. We slammed into the guardrail, which stopped us, and when we opened up the door, we realized we were at the edge of a cliff. And we were sitting on ice, so we were stuck there for five hours until someone could tow us back down the mountain.”

Slip ’N Slide
“During one show in Augusta, Georgia, it was so hot that in the middle of the set I grabbed my water bottle and dumped it on my head. Then I walked up to the front of the stage to put my foot on the monitor and start the next song, but there was water on my shoe, so I totally slipped and smacked my face right on the monitor.”

Shock rock
“One time in Richmond, Virginia, there was something wrong with the power, and when Brook [futureusgalleryReeves, vocals] touched the mic, it shocked the hell out of him.”
