This installment comes from Connecticut thrashers Indestructible Noise Command. The song is called “Fist of Fascista,” and guitarist Erik Barath fills is in below.
REVOLVER What’s this song about?
ERIK BARATH It’s about fascism, plain and simple, but at the same time, an abusive love story. Always the same old thing, it starts out all lovie-dovie but ends boot to the throat.
Which part of it did you come up with first?
I wrote the entire song after watching a documentary on Mussolini. It was amazing how he got his people and the media to love him after giving some security to a weak nation. Kind of reminds one of what is happening today. There is a little Il Duce in most leaders I think.
Was this an easy song to write?
Very easy. I wrote this song in about an hour. I could have written an entire album on this subject alone.
What sort of feedback have you gotten on this song so far?
This seems to be the most popular on the album. Even my little kid goes around the house yelling, “Fascista!”
