Hell, we love Halloween so much we have a special issue called Rock! Shock! and Horror on newsstands now and available for purchase online right here. Because good scares often intersect with great metal, we asked Jacoby Shaddix (pictured left) of Papa Roach about his favorite on-screen zombies.

Night of the Living Dead
“The original. I saw this at a very young age and it freaked me the fuck out! I was afraid to be in my room alone after I saw this movie. But, for some reason I started watching it obsessively. That’s when I got over my fear and realized that I had a true love for the macabre.”

Zombieland

“First and foremost, Woody Harrelson is incredible in this film. Funny as hell! Plus the cameo from Bill Murray sends it over the top. I have a dark sense of humor and this flick tickled my funny bone.”

The Walking Dead

“Great acting and great character development. It kept me hooked through the first two seasons. It is so realistic. I love the drama and the power struggle of the lead characters. For real, if you haven’t seen this show, you should check it out.”

Papa Roach are currently in the studio working on their follow-up to 2010′s Time for Annihilation. While the band have gone on to major success since the release of their debut full-length nearly 15 years ago, Papa Roach have certainly had to pay their dues to get where they are today. We decided to go on a trip down memory lane with frontman Jacoby Shaddix–one of the 100 Greatest Living Rock Stars featured in the 100th issue of Revolver–to discover his favorite things to do in a dead-end town without a dime to his name.

Barn Burning
“We’d do shit like play keg parties in orchards. We also played barn parties with bonfires inside. That was a horrible idea, by the way. We almost burned the barn down, and we got caught by the cops.”

Cow-tipping
“I grew up in Vacaville, California, which is Spanish for ‘Cow Town.’ Cows sleep standing up, so when you’re 16 and don’t have shit to do after you’ve smoked all your brown weed, you tip cows. Me and my boys used to sneak into the pastures and tip ‘em. They’d wake up and start freaking out. Some of them would even chase you.”

Beer runs
“We’d roll up to Albertson’s, a grocery store, and I’d wait in my truck while my bass player ran in and grabbed a case of beer. He’d run out with employees chasing him, but he’d hop in the back of the truck and we’d speed away. We were pros. We never got caught.”

White-water rafting
“My friend’s mother owned a white-water rafting company, and she’d let us go for free during the summer, which was sick as fuck. It was a real adrenaline rush. I still like to go do that, actually–but now I have to pay for it.”
