American Idol finalist and hard rocker James Durbin has announced an additional run of Summer tour dates for his 2012 tour, which will see him joined by Buckcherry and Drowning Pool. You can find the full list of dates below.
Among the shows on his upcoming trek are a stop at Ridge Festival in Chicago, a free outdoor show in Kansas City and an outdoor show in Los Angeles.
Durbin’s first studio album, Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster, was released last November on Wind-Up Records.

Rock on the Range returns for its sixth year boasting a massive lineup covering the rock spectrum. America’s premier destination rock festival will be held May 18–20 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, featuring performances from Incubus, Rob Zombie, Shinedown, Marilyn Manson, Five Finger Death Punch, Slash, Megadeth, Chevelle, Cypress Hill, Mastodon, and many more.
“Incubus is stoked to be joinin’ the killer lineup at Rock On The Range this year. We’ll see y’all in Columbus,” comments Brandon Boyd from festival co-headliner Incubus.
“If you thought last time was a blast, then this time we are gonna blow your fucking mind,” says co-headliner Rob Zombie.
To get the party started and based on the success of last year’s anniversary celebration, the weekend will kick off with the Friday Night 4Play, which is absolutely free with every Rock on the Range weekend ticket purchase. The May 18 party will feature performances from Hairball, Foxy Shazam, Hells Bells, and more.

Former American Idol finalist and heavy-metal recording artist James Durbin got married earlier this month, and one of his idols, Geoff Tate of Queensrÿche, made a surprise appearance at the wedding reception, where the two ended up singing an impromptu duet on the Queensrÿche song “Take Hold of the Flame” together. A big fan of Revolver‘s who was recently spotted wearing a Revolver T-shirt on the set of Conan, Durbin has kindly shared video of the performance exclusively with us. Queensrÿche frontman Geoff Tate made a surprise appearance at American Idol season 10 finalist James Durbin’s wedding reception on New Year’s Eve, launching into a duet with Durbin of “Take Hold of the Flame.” The song is a favorite of Durbin, who released his debut album—Memories of a Beautiful Disaster—last November, and his new bride Heidi Lowe.
Tate has also revealed plans for a selection of acoustic solo dates on the West Coast, billed as “Geoff Tate and Friends.” Tour dates below.

American Idol season 10 finalist James Durbin has been recording material for his debut album with Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars. After Mars revealed, via Twitter, that he was in the studio with Durbin working on a “killer track,” Durbin responded with a picture of the pair and the following comment:
“That’s right! That’s Mick Mars. Mick Fuckin Mars!!!!! Playing on my record!!! This is so unbelievable!!!!!”

As the resident metalhead on this year’s season of American Idol, James Durbin brought the soaring sound of Judas Priest to one of the biggest TV audiences in the country—advancing to the coveted Top 13 via his version of “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’” and even performing with Priest themselves for the season’s blowout finale. Although Durbin–who is interviewed in the new issue of Revolver, available on newsstands now and online right here–sadly did not go all the way (fuck you, Scotty Mc”Creepy”!), he at least gave us something we could talk to our moms about. Anyway, here are his six favorite Priest songs, and some YouTubes that should leave you Hell Bent for whatever.

“How could you not love that song? It’s fucking crazy. Every single aspect of what is metal is included in that song. It’s heavy, there’s parts of it that are melodic; it’s screechy, screamy. I don’t know. Priest amazes me. Because I like the ’80s hair-metal shit, I’m into their more melodic songs… That’s what I love about metal, is that it can be so heavy and you can totally just shred for days over it, but it can also be melodic. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Avenged Sevenfold is fucking incredible, and they’re melodic. Their stuff is catchy. You can actually sing along with it. It’s not something that’s some brutal death-metal song that’s like , you know. I don’t like that stuff because I can’t sing along with it.”

Judas Priest kick off the first leg of their North American farewell tour, joined by Thin Lizzy and Black Label Society, on October 12 in San Antonio, Texas, and will release The Classic Albums Collection box set, featuring 17 remastered albums, in the fall, as well.
