Puscifer, the Northern Arizona-based band helmed by Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle), will release an eight-song EP titled Donkey Punch The Night on February 19 via Puscifer Entertainment.

“While continuing our tradition of releasing a few new songs at a time,” explained Keenan, “I also had an itch that needed scratching, and that itch was ‘Balls To The Wall.’ Which was followed by an even harder to reach itch known as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ And scratch them we did.”

The collection features two new songs written by Keenan and Puscifer cohorts Mat Mitchell, Carina Round and Josh Eustis: “Breathe” and “Dear Brother,” as well as two covers: Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and Accept’s “Balls To The Wall.” Donkey Punch The Night was recorded in Jerome, Arizoza, in Keenan’s Caduceus Cellars (www.caduceus.org) with the same roster from 2011′s Conditions of My Parole (Keenan, Mitchell, Round, Eustis, Matt McJunkins and Jeff Friedl) and guests Zac Rae (piano), Juliette Commagere (vocals), Josh Morreau (bass) and Claire Acey (vocals).

Remixes of the four songs round-out the release with contributions from Los Angeles techno wizard Drumcell, Big Black Delta (aka Jonathan Bates, formerly of Mellowdrone and touring guitarist for M83), Sonoio (Italian multi-instrumentalist Alessandro Cortini of Modwheelmood and touring keyboard player for Muse and NIN) and Central American DJ, Silent Servant, who is well known for his mash-up of post-punk and techno.

Donkey Punch The Night track list:

1. Bohemian Rhapsody “O.G. Mix”
2. Breathe
3. Dear Brother
4. Balls To The Wall “PIllow Fight Mix”
5. Breathe “Drumcell rework”
6. Dear Brother “Denton rework” (Big Black Delta)
7. Balls To The Wall “Silent Servant El Guapo Mix”
8. Bohemian Rhapsody “Sonoio rework”

Puscifer recently announced their first tour dates outside of North America with the band performing three shows in Australia as well as performances at Lollapalooza Brazil and Lollapalooza Chile.

From the Big Four to Avenged Sevenfold at the Golden Gods, 2011 has been one hell of a year

As 2012 draws closer, we’re celebrating the things that have made this year great. One that stands out is all of the great concerts that took place all over the world in 2011. We’ve been posting photos from events such as the Big Four, the Revolver Golden Gods, the Wacken Festival, and many other notable concerts throughout the year right here on Revolvermag.com. Now we’re celebrating the best of the best: 75 photos of bands ranging from Metallica at the Big Four to Avenged Sevenfold’s jam with Hellyeah and Pantera’s Vinnie Paul at the Revolver Golden Gods. We can only hope next year has as many amazing moments.

Let’s also take this moment to recognize the photographers, credited below each photo, who risk life and lens to go in the pit and capture the mayhem as it happens. For those about to shoot, we salute you!

Maynard James Keenan has handily extended his reputation as metal’s premiere weird-merchant with Conditions of My Parole, the second full-length by his oddball dust devil Puscifer, via his like-titled record label. Holding a motley assemblage of outlaws hostage in his Merkin Vineyards in the Arizona desert (including indie rocker Carina Round and spasmodic Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore), Conditions plays like Deliverance directed by David Lynch, a tumbleweed pile-up where Revolting Cocks outlaw-boogie meets creeptactular banjo picking. “I can juggle 16 projects and know where the sugar levels are on my fermenting juice while I’m writing a song,” Keenan says, “but I can’t actually play banjo and sing.”

REVOLVER Your first album was titled “V” Is for Vagina, and you have other releases with titles that reference Viagra and the C-word. This is the first Puscifer record without a filthy title…
MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN You don’t know that. Maybe it’s an anagram. Maybe if you rearrange the letters, some kind of poop joke will come out.

And you wrote and recorded half the record in your wine cellar.
The house is attached to the winery, so we had little stations everywhere. The drums, being set up in a big room, it was kind of boomy and cement—it was cool.

Do you think the vibrations affected the wine?
Well, there’ve been studies. If you play certain kinds of sounds to water as you freeze it, you’ll notice the crystals as they form are much more delicate and geometric when you play better music for them. You play like classical music for them, the crystal structures are more organized and defined. When you play 311, they just look like chunks. It just bums out and won’t freeze. When we do ours it looks like a Rubik’s Cube.

Do you ever find any wildlife out there in the desert?
Are you kidding? Fox, coyote, javelina, there are mountain lions and there are cougars. There’s bears around, but not that close. If you’re in Arizona and you see a red-tailed fox almost come up to you, it seems tame. Don’t pet it, because it’s feral. It’s about to bite you.

When you’re out there, what do you and your bandmates do to bond?
Just in that setting, you can’t help but bond when you’re sitting on the porch with a glass of wine and you can see all the stars clear as day. You can’t see those in Chicago or L.A.… You see other kinds of stars, the kind that are puking on the sidewalk.

How many times a day does someone ask you about a new Tool record?
At least 20… Wait, what time is it? 22. Twenty-two times. For most people, where I started was there. Most people assume the success of anything I do is based on Tool, when they don’t realize that I was successful at things long before Tool. Tool didn’t get me in Westpoint, Tool didn’t get me distinguished graduate from basic training, Tool didn’t get me on the student council, and Tool didn’t get me my 12 varsity letters. But the public eye assumes that’s the thing I should be doing. I just hold my tongue and do what I do.

Puscifer is where Tool and A Perfect Circle frontman/celebrity wine enthusiast Maynard James Keenan goes when he really wants to get weird. Puscifer albums, as strange as they are, usually follow a familiar pattern and the occasionally awesome Parole is no exception: There are lots of crack session players, this time including Brit singer Carina Round, a ’90s industrial-meets-goth-meets-lounge vibe, and lots of vagina metaphors. Sometimes (like on the serpentine first single “Man Overboard”) it’s jaw dropping. Sometimes it sounds like Sting. Too many songs build and build and never explode, and though Keenan has never sounded growlier, Parole never really breaks loose. ALLISON STEWART
