We’ve just received word that death metal lifers Cannibal Corpse have begun recording their twelfth studio album at Sonic Ranch studios in Texas with producer Erik Rutan. The new full-length will be the follow-up to 2009′s Evisceration Plague.
“After having spent the past 7 months writing and rehearsing new material, we’re very excited to finally begin recording,” says bassist Alex Webster. “We’ve had great success working with Erik Rutan on our past two albums so we’ve decided to work with him again, but to keep things fresh we decided on a change of location – we’re returning to Sonic Ranch studios in Texas, where we’ve recorded several albums in the past. We are psyched to see how this combination works out- we feel it’s pairing that could result in our best album yet.”
“I am super excited to work with Cannibal Corpse for our 3rd album together,” says Rutan, who worked with Cannibal Corpse on both Kill (2006) and Evisceration Plague. “We are determined to make the best album we possibly can. Everyone is very focused and the new material is awesome. There is a great blend of classic, old school CC with a newer, more heavy, dynamic and aggressive approach. I look forward to the challenge of making one heavy as hell record!”

Ohio-based metallers Skeletonwitch have posted the first in a series of candid videos documenting the recording of their forthcoming record, Forever Abomination. The record was tracked in Los Angeles with producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Hatebreed, Children of Bodom), and is scheduled for release on October 11 via Prosthetic Records.

British thrash revivalists Evile are scheduled to release their third studio album, Five Serpent’s Teeth on October 18 via Earache Records.
Five Serpent’s Teeth was recorded at Parlour Studios in Kettering, UK, with producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir), who also helmed the band’s 2009 release Infected Nations.

We’ve just received word that The Wretched End have started recording a new album, tentatively titled Inroads.
The band, which formed in 2008 as creative collaboration between Samoth (Emperor/ Zyklon) and Cosmo (Mindgrinder), is currently heading into Strand Studio, Oslo, to record the drums for the follow-up to last year’s debut album Ominous. Swedish skinsman Nils Fjellström (a.k.a. Dominator from Dark Funeral, Aeon and In Battle) will be tracking drums.
So far, the confirmed tracks for Inroads are as follows: “Death by Nature”, “Cold Iron Soul”, “Blackthorn Winter”, “Fear Propaganda”, “Hunger”, “Throne Renowned of Old”, “Tyrant of the Mountain”, “Deathtopian Society” and “The Haunting Ground.”
Recording is scheduled to be finished by the end 2011 and Inroads is tentatively scheduled for release in the first half of 2012 through Nocturnal Art Productions/ Candlelight Records.

New “Alaskan mountain metal” outfit Turbid North have just announced tour dates for August. The band recently finished a stint supporting Unearth through their adopted home of Texas in early July. Unearth mainman Trevor Phipps recently released the band’s full-length album Orogeny through his label Ironclad Recordings.
Orogeny is a mix of galloping Eighties-inspired thrash and abrasive death-tech shredding. Turbid North is Brian McCoy (vocals), Nick Forkel (guitar/vocals), Alex Rydlinski (guitar) his brother Adam Rydlinski (drums) and Chris O’Toole (bass).

French black metallers Glorior Belli have just revealed the cover art and track listing (see below) for their new album The Great Southern Darkness, which will be released through Metal Blade on September 27, 2011.

Rwake recorded Rest, which is their follow-up to 2007’s Voices of Omens, at Engine Studios in Chicago, IL with noted engineer Sanford Parker. Rest will see its North American release on September 27th on CD, digital, as well as pressed on olive green and 180 gram black vinyl.

Rwake recently saw the re-issue of their 2002 release Hell Is A Door To The Sun this past March. The long-out-of-print album has been re-mixed by Sanford Parker, re-mastered, and re-packaged to include new artwork, photography, and liner notes from the band.
