Leading up to the end of the year, Revolver has asked some of our favorite artists to pick their Top Albums of 2012 and tell us why each record rules. Here, Ryan Neff (pictured left), bassist of the metalcore band Miss May I, selects his faves.
5. Veil of Maya, Eclipse
“I was never much of a Veil of Maya fan until this record, but I have to say this one hooked me. Complex rhythms, powerful vocal patterns, and just all around heavy as fuck!”
4. The Amity Affliction, Chasing Ghosts
“One of my all time favorite bands to tour with, close friends, and this record hit home for me. From melody to lyrics, this record had me won over the second it was released.”
3. Glass Cloud, The Royal Thousand
“As a fan of Sky Eats Airplane and Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, this band had me stoked from the beginning. After a tour with these guys and understanding how talented they are, I can’t quit listening.”
2. Lamb of God, Resolution
“The exact same can be said about Lamb of God. First record in quite a while and it’s a banger.”

At Revolver, we are bringing this year to a close and making lists like we’re starring in a metal version of High Fidelity. 3. Jonathan Davis, Korn “A legend since the beginning. Even in a kilt, he can make long hair look metal as shit.”

We’re nearing the halfway mark of this year’s Vans Warped Tour, but the party’s just getting started!
Among the many bands making noise on this year’s Warped Tour is Ohio’s Miss May I, who are on the road in support of their latest record, At Heart (buy on iTunes), a raucous blend of metalcore and thrash that’s out now on Rise Records.
While on the road, the guys took the time out to film a Cribs-style look at their tour bus hosted by frontman Levi Benton. Check out the video below for a behind-the-scenes look at life on tour with Miss May I.

Miss May I will release their new album, At Heart, on June 12. (You can preorder it on iTunes.) In anticipation, they are debuting their new video, for the song “Hey Mister,” right here right now. The clip was produced by Thunderdown Productions in Columbus, Ohio, and, according to vocalist Levi Benton, shooting the video was “the craziest experience” of his life. REVOLVER Whats’ the song “Hey Mister” about?
LEVI BENTON It’s about how I grew up with no father but always missed him. Also, how I came from nothing and, by the end of the day, I don’t need him anyways because I got mine and I can be on my own.
Why did you decide to make a video for this song?
This is by far one of our favorite and most heartfelt songs on the entire record and I really feel people can relate and should know the story.
How do you guys come up with the concept for the video?
We wanted to have an abstract image of a man looking for his father through all the elements and have him lead to his father who he confronts by the end of the video.
What was the craziest thing that happened at the video shoot?
To shoot the boat storm scene, we had to go into a scuba-training tank and basically use leaf blowers and fans to create a storm. The most exciting part, though, was when the boat flips over because it really had to with me in it to make it look “legit.”
Miss May I are releasing their new album, At Heart, on June 12th. They recently completed shooting their new video, “Hey Mister,” produced by Thunderdown Productions in Columbus, Ohio.
