On their fifth album, Eugene, Oregon power-doom colossus Yob have somehow tightened their telekinetic bond, maintaining sucker-punch grooves in the stickiest, most viscous sludgefuck quicksand ever. For 16 minutes at a time, Yob lurch along the line between of joy and agony, turning waves of pure detuned gunk into unlikely crust-rock anthems—if you’re into pumping your fist very slowly. The biggest leap forward however is frontman Mike Scheidt, whose anguished yowl increasingly sounds like St. Vitus’s Wino Weinrich being waterboarded, and whose guitar is one step away from industrial machinery. The city imposed a seven-day hold on the venue’s operations license after a fight started in the club and spilled out into the street, resulting in a handgun being fired at least six times. No one was shot but two people involved in the fight were arrested. The show has moved to a new venue called Bada Brew but will otherwise go on as scheduled. All tickets will be honored.

The tour features Helmet, Saint Vitus, Crowbar, Kylesa, Red Fang, Howl, and Atlas Moth, who could all probably hold their own in a gang fight if they had to. Check out the remaining dates below.
