Forget what you think you know about Senses Fail because Renacer sees the band burying their pop tendencies beneath breakdowns so brutal that even Hatebreed fans will be sated. Recorded with Far guitarist Shaun Lopez, the album sees vocalist Buddy Nielsen screaming like an NYHC veteran as the band mirrors his aggression via the sonic assault of tracks like “Holy Mountain” and “Courage Of The Knife.” That’s not to say Renacer doesn’t have its share of melodic moments such as the intro to “Snake Bite,” but ultimately these well-place segues are but a welcome respite from the pummeling power of the riff.
Senses Fail have announced that they will begin recording their fifth full-length album this week in Los Angeles.

Senses Fail, who have spent their summer performing on the Vans Warped Tour, will work with producer Shaun Lopez (Far, Deftones) at The Airport Studio and Red Bull Studio. They are expecting to wrap up recording by mid-December with a spring 2013 release planned.

“Over the last 10-plus years, our influences have grown, and the creative well from which we draw has been dug deeper,” says vocalist Buddy Nielsen. “This record stands to show where we are in our personal and creative lives. We’ve always counted on this band to be our rock and positive tool of expression through our highs and lows. Never has that been more clear than with this batch of songs. We’re excited to be working with Shaun Lopez. We’ve been a fan of his work as both a musician and producer for a long time and we look forward to his input and direction.”

In June, Senses Fail celebrated their 10-year anniversary with the release of a double-CD retrospective, Follow Your Bliss: The Best of Senses Fail. The package included a bonus disc including four new tracks that hint at the direction the band will be taking on the new album.
