“AIC 23,” a new skit posted to Funny or Die, tells the story of Alan Poole McLard, a Film Studies Professor at a community college, who is trying to make a documentary film about Alice in Chains to coincide with the release of their new album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. Without the cooperation of the members of Alice in Chains, McLard does his best to interview other musicians that may, or may not, have influenced AIC throughout the years. The film includes cameos from Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo from Metallica, Unta Gleeben Glabben Globben from Necrobotica, Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart, Donnie “Skeeter” Dollarhide Jr. from the Singing Dollarhides, Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, Nesta Cleveland, Kim Thayil from Soundgarden, Duff McKagan from Guns N’ Roses and Loaded, and others. Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Check out all the new details about Carolina Rebellion 2013, which takes place May 4 and 5!

An expanded Carolina Rebellion returns May 4 and 5 at Rock City Campgrounds at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte. After major success in 2012, the Mid-Atlantic’s biggest rock festival is growing to two full days in its third year and will feature more camping and VIP space at its new location.

Carolina Rebellion 2013 features Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Limp Bizkit, Rise Against, Bush, Deftones, 3 Doors Down, Three Days Grace, Papa Roach, Bullet For My Valentine, Buckcherry, Volbeat, Halestorm, Asking Alexandria, All That Remains, Steel Panther, Device (with David Draiman), Hollywood Undead, Sick Puppies, In This Moment, Escape The Fate, Pop Evil, Nonpoint, Otherwise, Aranda, Thousand Foot Krutch, Redline Chemistry, Young Guns, Tracer, American Fangs and Heaven’s Basement.

The bands listed above will perform on one of the three festival stages: the Monster Energy ‘Carolina Stage’, the Monster Energy ‘Rebellion Stage’ and the Jägermeister Stage. In addition, f.y.e will have a special artist tent where bands will stop by throughout the day to meet fans and sign their CDs.

“After wrapping up our last U.S. tour, we were planning on recharging our batteries for awhile, but we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play with the mighty Soundgarden in what will be one of the only shows we’ll play in the U.S. this year,” says Tim Mcllrath of Rise Against.

Michael Poulsen of Volbeat comments, “In Europe and the U.S., we have enjoyed the experiences that come from being a part of the festival environment, just as the fans do. Looking forward to Carolina Rebellion!”

“The ‘Rebels’ spoke and we listened,” says Gary Spivack, Co-Executive Producer of the event for Right Arm Entertainment. “More days, a new venue, huge bands…It’s our mission for Rebellion to be the biggest and best rock festival in the entire Mid-Atlantic region. We have our home at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and can’t wait for May 4 and 5!”

Full Weekend General Admission tickets for Carolina Rebellion go on sale to the public Friday, February 8, at 10 a.m. EST, as do Single Day General Admission tickets, all at www.CarolinaRebellion.com. Full Weekend tickets will be available starting at $99 plus fees, and Single Day tickets will start at $59.50 plus fees. Parking is included with all tickets.

“Holding Carolina Rebellion at Charlotte Motor Speedway gives us the ability to create an even better experience for our fans,” comments Joe Litvag, Co-Executive Producer of the festival for AEG Live. “We have more space to expand, easier access in and out, upgraded tent and RV camping opportunities, and lots of participating hotels to cater to our crowd. But most importantly we’re able to continue to offer incredible value by keeping our ticket prices low while the festival grows in stature each year.”

As we reported yesterday, Dave Grohl — who might actually be the hardest-working man in show business — directed the new music video for Soundgarden’s “By Crooked Steps.”

The band officially released the video today, and you can watch it below.

The video depicts Soundgarden cruising around the streets of LA with a sly cop played by Deadmau5. “I had an idea. I got a copy of the record and the third song ‘By Crooked Steps’ was a signature, instantly recognizable Soundgarden song,” and the rest was history,” Grohl said.

The track is off King Animal, Soundgarden’s first album in more than 15 years. It was co-produced by the band and Adam Kasper at Studio X in Seattle and was released November 13 via Loma Vista Recordings/Republic Records.

And it is fittingly gargantuan. Check it out below, and for tickets, VIP packages, and more info, visit RockOnTheRange.com and Facebook.

Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, Bush, Three Days Grace, Stone Sour, Papa Roach, Volbeat, Cheap Trick, Bullet For My Valentine, Lamb Of God, Skillet, A Day To Remember, Buckcherry, Halestorm, Hollywood Undead, Device (with David Draiman), Steel Panther, All That Remains, Asking Alexandria, Sevendust, Sick Puppies, Pop Evil, In Flames, In This Moment, Black Veil Brides, Clutch, The Sword, Ghost, Red, Biffy Clyro, Deuce, Middle Class Rut, Big Wreck, Otherwise, Red Line Chemistry, Oleander, Young Guns, Thousand Foot Krutch, Mindset Evolution, Tracer, Beware Of Darkness, Heaven’s Basement, American Fangs, Love And Death, Gemini Syndrome

“We’re really looking forward to returning to Rock on the Range with a batch of brand new killer Alice tunes to play for everyone!” says Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains.

“Head is back!!,” Korn singer Jonathan Davis comments. “Rock On The Range is going to start it all off!! Get ready, we are going to hit it hard!!”

“Bush are thrilled to be playing Rock On The Range with such great bands,” Bush frontman Gavin Rosdale says. “We look forward to seeing you all out there.”

“This massive lineup has scratched our seven-year itch!” says Gary Spivack, co-executive producer of the event for Right Arm Entertainment. “Getting Soundgarden for their first Ohio play in two decades and having seminal acts Alice in Chains, Korn, Volbeat, and Papa Roach return along with bands new to Rock On The Range that include Smashing Pumpkins and Bush, and everything in between—the spectrum of rock n roll is covered…three days of constant energy. Rock On The Range is truly where rock lives.”

“Our goal with Rock On The Range is to constantly create new and interesting ways to expand the event and give even more value to our fans,” comments Joe Litvag, co-executive producer of the event for AEG Live. “In 2013, we’ve added a comedy tent within the site that will be curated by The Funny Bone comedy club. Having a slate of incredible, up-and-coming comedians to riff on the rock experience will be a great change of pace for the weekend. The site layout is also changing dramatically in 2013 to create better event flow, to add more interactive fan activity to the festival, and to allow even more people to experience the higher caliber of talent on the second stage this year.”

Here, Craig Locicero (pictured left), guitarist of the thrash-metal band Forbidden, selects his faves.

5. Soundgarden, King Animal
“Most refreshing record of the last few years. I’m very glad they are back and sound like nothing else but Soundgarden!”

4. Jack White, Blunderbuss
“Jack White as a songwriter and a guitarist is incredible. I have a ton of respect for his entire career, even as a producer. This is one of his best records to date.”

3. Gojira, L’Enfant Sauvage
“From the first note of this record, I was entranced and hypnotized. Their use of dynamics and syncopation keep me involved all the way from front to back. Also, some of the drum patterns are the catchiest things I’ve ever heard in metal.”

2. High on Fire, De Vermis Mysteriis
“Matt Pike = ferocious, snarling metal god! Love this record and the way it captures the bands unparalleled live power.”

1. Deftones, Koi No Yokan
“With all of the tragedy that has beset the Deftones, I am in awe of the brutal beauty that this record holds. The tones are by far the best of any record they have done and Chino Moreno’s voice has never been stronger. Chi Cheng must be proud of his brothers.”
