Their new album, The Right Thing, is set for release on April 9.

Los Angeles-based rock band Owl–featuring The Cult bassist Chris Wyse on vocals and bass, as well as drummer Dan Dinsmore and guitarist-vocalist Jason Achilles Mezilis–-is set to unleash its new album, The Right Thing, on April 9 via Overit Records. In anticipation, the group is premiering a new track right here right now: a cover of The Kinks classic “Destroyer.”

“‘Destroyer’ is such a great classic and The Kinks were always a favorite,” Wyse says. “Covering the song was an instant fit for Owl–we took a really fun song and put our own stamp on it. We liked the way it turned out so much that we made it the opening track on The Right Thing.”

Check the cover out below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

“We were an unstoppable force in the studio,” says frontman Wyse. “This album is heavy and bombastic, and is our unorthodox ode to rock.”

Tracks include “Destroyer,” “The Right Thing,” and “Rover,” as well as “All Day,” which features guest drummer Johnny Tempesta of The Cult.

After releasing their self-titled debut in 2009, Owl has played alongside the likes of Helmet, Jet, and Hollywood all-star rock collective Camp Freddy. Between touring and recording commitments with Wyse’s other gig–playing bass in The Cult–Owl began writing what would become the band’s self-produced The Right Thing in early 2011.
