With driving hard-rock riffs and great songwriting ability, British quintet the Treatment get off to a strong start with their debut, This Might Hurt. While it may sound like a throwback to the unapologetic party rock of Kiss and Mötley Crüe (fitting since the Treatment will be opening for both those groups this summer), the album never comes across like the work of a tribute band. Standout tracks include “Stone Cold Love,” which offers a big arena-ready chorus that should have audiences singing along, and the alternate, acoustic take of the album’s “Just Tell Me Why.” This version shows a more stripped-down and intimate side of the band, reminiscent of something off the second half of GN’R Lies. The Treatment’s debut showcases a classic-rock style as filtered through a young, new-millennial band’s perspective, and as such, it certainly does not hurt.
REVOLVER What’s this song about?
MATT JONES It’s a song of hope, about how to overcome the powers and the prejudice that try and deter you from your goals. It’s about having self belief and never giving in.

Why did you decide to make a video for this song?
We always liked the message in this song, and it has become an audience favorite. It has a really memorable chorus and a positive feel. We hope people will find it uplifting when they listen to it.

How do you guys come up with the concept for the video?
We are big Beatles fans, and we wanted the video to have a Sgt. Pepper/”All You Need Is Love” kind of feel to it. There was a great vibe in the room through the whole day, and I think that comes across when you see it. Almost everyone that as helped us along tthe way from day one, was in the video, so it was also very personal to us and we had great fun making it.

What was the craziest thing that happened at the video shoot?
Well, actually, it was crazy from the start. The shoot started at 10 in the morning and when we arrived at the studio in Kings Cross, we discovered that a workman had drilled through an electric cable, and cut off the power to the whole area. As there was a cast of about 60 to 70 people in the video, we only had one day to get the video finished as it would have been almost impossible to re arrange it for another day. Fortunately, the power came on early in the afternoon. It was also Tag, our guitar player’s birthday, and the day eventually developed into a full-blown party. We didn’t finish until 5 in the morning and about 10 of the cast members ended back at our manager’s house in Cambridge where we live. It was without doubt the most fun we have had on a video shoot.
