Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil, 52, was hospitalized Sunday night, the result of a kidney stone attack that struck during Mötley Crüe’s set in Sydney, Australia. Neil underwent surgery this morning.

According to Setlist.fm, the Crüe were nine songs into their set when Nikki Sixx announced that Neil had been taken to the hospital because he had been experiencing pain all night.

Thirty minutes after this morning’s surgery, Neil tweeted, “Just out of surgery. Spent night in hospital probably have to again tonight. Thank you all for the kind words and prayers. Huge thank you to all the paramedics at the All Phones Arena, the ambulance paramedics, the nurses, doctors and Staff.”

Bassist Nikki Sixx updated fans by saying: “Hey guys, I just woke here in Sydney. As many have heard we had to cut our set short by 4 songs last night due to Vince be in severe pain on stage… He was doubled over on his dressing room floor 5 minutes till show time and was told by the promoter to not even play but Vince said he couldn’t do that to the fans. I’ve seen Vinnie go onstage with broken bones, his voice completely blown out and torn ligaments but he never ever cancels. Just like an athlete you sometimes have to play through the pain but last night it became to excruciating.

“I was texting with Vince most of the night last night as he was just waiting for the doctor to come back with the test results. This morning we found out he had to be admitted into surgery to remove kidney stones. He Just got out 5 minutes ago and the doctors said everything went well in the operating room. I am going to the hospital to see him before I head to Brisbane. Will update you more later… Nikki’”.

Mötley Crüe are currently playing a residency at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, which goes through the 19th. When Revolver spoke to drummer Tommy Lee about the shows in December, he told us, “Production-wise, it’s gonna get pretty crazy.” Judging from the photos below, taken by Rob Fenn, at their Tuesday gig, Lee wasn’t lying. Not only is there a ringleader and a “mini” version of the band (check out mini Nikki below) to welcome fans to the show, as well as fire and girls, girls, girls galore, but Lee has installed his drum roller coaster in the venue. Check out what Fenn saw below. (And don’t forget that Nikki Sixx will be performing with his other band, Sixx:A.M., at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards this April!)

In an interview, conducted earlier this month with Sleaze Roxx, Sixx said, “I don’t think this band was meant to last and we’ve lasted way longer than anyone ever expected us to.”

Sixx continued: “For us it’s about trying to find the right time to end it [futureusgallerythe band] correctly. We’ve had that talk as a band and even in the last year or so we’ve spoken that at some time we’re going to want to wrap this up.

“I feel really proud of the band but we are taking steps to finish the movie and when we do we’ll look at that time. When the movie comes out it’ll be time to finish on a high note, on a positive, and not like we’re breaking up. I think that’s a good thing and will probably put us about 35 years which is a long time for a rock band which is cool. We’re not sad, we’re happy.”

“[futureusgalleryI'm] contemplating my future, and I’m not sure it will be with Mötley Crüe after Las Vegas,” Neil revealed to the Las Vegas Sun. “Great things are coming up and pushing me in another direction. This is all about me thinking about the second half of my life, thinking about my future, and that future might not include Mötley Crüe after Vegas. There are so many opportunities that are in front of me that I’m really excited about. I just don’t want to look back later in life and regret that I didn’t pursue them.”

Neil, who left the band once before in 1992, went onto say: “I’m just not sure I can give these opportunities the time and effort I’ll need to and continue with the band. It’s been a great ride, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it, but being out here [futureusgallerythe Bahamas] relaxing in this beautiful place has given me the chance to reflect on what direction I want the rest of my life to take. I’m really giving it a lot of thought.”

Vince Neil and Tommy Lee give us the details after the jump!

After much speculation, it was revealed last night that Mötley Crüe will be performing a residency in Las Vegas at the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino next February. Although plenty of performers from Céline Dion to Carlos Santana have played an extended run on the Vegas strip, Crüe will be the first metal band to do so.

“Who wouldn’t jump at a chance to design a show that gets left in there and the people come to the show,” drummer Tommy Lee tells Revolver. “It doesn’t have to move. So production-wise, it’s gonna get pretty crazy.”

While the current plan is for the band to set-up-shop at the Joint from February 3 through to February 19, performing four shows a week, frontman and Vegas resident Vince Neil claimed that that period could be extended.

“Hopefully, you know, if it’s successful and it works out for everybody, why not?” he says. “You’re basically on tour but you’re not really touring, which is great because that’s the great thing about Vegas, because people from all over the world are here for a few days and then they move on and then new people are always coming in. So, you’re basically having the world come to you.”

For a band that has always been about a lot more than just the music, Lee says that a proper Vegas show has been something that’s been on their radar for a many years.

“We’ve gone to a lot of the big-Vegas-production shows and we all have talked about it many times, going ‘God, could you imagine if we could only get our hands on this kind of an opportunity, what we could do with it?’” he recalls. “So, I mean, this has been something we’ve all talked about for a long time. This is gonna be wild.”

As for specific details about the show itself, while nothing has yet been finalized, the band claimed that it would be unlike any other concert experience. “We really want the audience to be in the show, not watching the show,” Lee explains. “It’s gonna be something really extraordinary that’s never really been done. That’s the whole point and purpose for us to even do this is to put together something that is just an insane experience. When people walk out they’re like ‘Dude, I can’t even believe what just fucking happened in there.’”

While other entertainers are likely to feature, one thing sure to become a regular feature of Mötley Crüe’s Vegas residency is, of course, “Girls, Girls, Girls.”

“It sure would be fun to really do it Vegas style and have there be, you know, nudity or almost nude, Lee commented. “I mean it is Vegas, right. Come on, that’s why we signed up for this shit.” He laughs.
