Today, RevolverMag.com presents the exclusive premiere of Nothing To Be Gained Here, the debut album by NK, a new featuring members of Envy On The Coast and The Dillinger Escape Plan. The album will be released May 21 by Triple Crown Records.
Nothing To Be Gained Here‘s peaks and valleys are strung together by monstrous rhythm section comprised of Michael Sadis on bass and Billy Rymer on drums (Dillinger Escape Plan), plus Ryan Hunter’s (Envy on the Coast) visceral and uninhibited lyrics and vocal style.
On “Confessional,” “Shoulder Gorilla,” “Kings” and “Set a Fire,” the band show their affinity for heavy music, with Rymer adding his signature drumming style. Abrasive guitars and fuzzed-out bass tones match Rymer’s style of playing, while Hunter’s vocals are a fusion of rhythmic aggression and melody. On “Vacation Days” and “Memo,” the band turn down the gain and embraces a warmer, down-tempo, soulful side. With Mike Sapone (Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, O’Brother) and Hunter taking on production duties, NTBGH is a rhythmic, lyrically dense and dynamic debut album.

The Dillinger Escape Plan are in the studio right now working on the follow-up to 2010′s Option Paralysis. The band have just posted a mysterious new teaser, which bears only the title, “time is always right behind us.. like the lamb under the gun.” Is it a new song title? A lyric? Due in the spring of next year, the band’s new album will be released by the band’s own label, Party Smasher Inc., in conjunction with Sumerian Records.
“Sumerian Records is now the official home for our label, Party Smasher Inc,” the band wrote in a Facebook post last week. “Look for the new Dillinger Escape Plan release this spring followed by some other exciting projects and releases! Get ready. 2013 belongs to us.”

The recently announced supergroup consisting of Mastodon guitarist-vocalist Brent Hinds, the Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, former the Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen, and ex–Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery will be called Giraffe Tongue Orchestra.
Weinman revealed the inventive moniker in a blog post on his band’s website. Weinman also stated that he and Hinds have already written material during off days on the current tour featuring Mastodon and the Dillinger Escape Plan.
“So about G.T.O (Giraffe Tongue Orchestra), Brent and I have already got new material,” Weinman says. “The guy just spits out riffs like a riff machine. Day off tomorrow in Colorado and we shall be working all day on sweet sweet melodies sure to make the young girls cry and the old one scream (not necessarily in that order).”
]]>The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman has posted an update about the plans for a supergroup featuring himself, Mastodon guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds, ex–Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery, and former Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen.
In a blog post on the Dillinger Escape Plan website, Weinman revealed that he and Avery had already begun working on material together, while the two of them plan on doing some serous time in the studio shortly. Weinman also commented that he expects to have plenty of sessions with Hinds when their two bands hit the road this fall.

As I Lay Dying are releasing a new album, Decas, to coincide with the band’s 10th anniversary. The record, due out on November 8, features three new songs, covers, and remixes of classic As I Lay Dying tracks by various artists. Bands covered on the record include Slayer and Judas Priest, while remixes come from Innerpartysystem and Benjamin Weinman (the Dillinger Escape Plan), among others. Full track listing is below.
