LA hard rockers Varna have teamed with Revolver to premiere their new music video, for the song "My Heart." The track is off the band's debut EP, This Time, It's Personal, which was released in early 2013.

Some fun facts about the "My Heart" video:

  1. A VARNA fan sent the band a heart shaped necklace as a gift and they put it in the video!
  2. The air conditioner stopped working on the Sound Stage during their live performance in the video. They were performing in over 100 degree weather with full gear!
  3. They couldn't find any pills for Rob to have in the video, so they used the director's wife's pre-natal vitamins!

In this Moment have premiered their latest music video, for the single "Whore." The clip co-stars Motionless In White frontman Chris Motionless.

"His look is so perfect for the dirty vintage feel of the video," In This Moment frontwoman Maria Brink says of Motionless' cameo, "and he was a perfect gentleman while being violated by me."

"I knew how amazing placing the visual arts to 'Whore' would be when we wrote it," she continues, "and I have been waiting to release this video since we recorded the song."

Hey Revolver!

I'm thrilled to bring you a weekly Guest Blog while Huntress is on tour with Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage and Testament. Being the only woman on tour is always interesting. Can't deny it: I love being surrounded by a bunch of bearded, burly metal men. I'm often asked, "How do you tour non-stop and not kill anyone? Like, you're a woman." So, I thought I'd share some of my personal tour guidelines since I'm still alive out here and not in jail (yet).

The Girl's Basic Guide to Surviving Tour Life

Any woman attempting to tour relentlessly in a heavy-metal band while living in a van with several dudes needs to take a moment and make some choices. This path is ALL about choices. When Huntress landed our first national tour with Pagan Fest America in March 2012, we had never toured before and our debut album Spell Eater on Napalm Records was still unreleased. I almost lost my mind. And on the verge of losing my mind and my band, I had a flash of clarity: Ditch the Female Drama. And that is where the journey begins.

Here are the five basic guidelines I follow when I'm touring relentlessly:

1. Ditch the Female Drama – When we first started touring, I felt a sense of entitlement because I was the only woman in the band. That caused a lot of tension amongst us while in the van, and after fighting for my female comfort and feeling completely alone, I surrendered. I ditched the bitch and started peeing in bottles. I learned to minimize my belongings, only keeping what I need to survive simply. I'm completely self-sufficient with my daily preparation, doing my hair, whore claws, make-up and getting into costume in under 15 minutes while sitting in the front seat. I focus on writing music, making crystal jewelry and vocal resting on long drives. I learned to sleep in a van and actually find that I miss it once I'm back in a real bed. Once I decided to surrender to the road, I found peace.

2. Check Your Ego – Ain't no secret, lead singers can be nightmares. We're the center of attention. All the feedback, positive or negative must not be manifested. It will grow into a monster that brings destruction. The moment I believe my own hype, is the very moment I become an asshole. I choose to never read reviews or forums online; all this does is feed the beast. My interaction with fans is special, yet limited and on my own terms. I prefer to stay down-to-earth and humble because all that noise, even if its fans chanting your name after a show, must fade away once your make-up comes off and you lay alone with your human self to fall asleep.

3. Health First – Tour life is synonymous with bad health. It's so easy to eat processed foods that break down your immune system. I found the best way to combat crappy food is by juicing a few times a week with the boys, and BBQ'ing fresh meat and vegetables in parking lots along the way. Add partying into the mix, the endless supply of booze and drugs that surround a successful band, and good health becomes a major challenge (shut up you bitch, be glad you get free drugs - me). I choose to not drink on the road (except for the occasional shot of Jägermeister) and I keep my drug use to weed only. I also find B12 injections to be life saving. Not only do B12 shots boost my immune system, they bring me clarity and help to balance my ever-shifting moods.

4. Tour is Work – It's an honor to have such amazing opportunities, sharing stages all over the world with metal bands we've admired for years. But I never forget that this is work. We don't have a crew, and there are so many responsibilities we can't let slide. Arriving on time for load in after taking shifts driving throughout the night, setting up merch, warming up, maintaining your gear, performing and getting in the zone with each other… then load out, meeting fans, working merch, and getting everyone back in the van for yet another long haul. It feels like that Bill Murray movie "Groundhog Day" sometimes. Hotels are an oasis for us. Find those days where you can get a cheap hotel room and do it. Boost band moral.

5. Apple Bongs – Huntress fans know we love us some fine ass weed. Our fans are very cool to bring us goodies and burn after the show. We don't travel with it, considering we're driving rapidly across the US and into Canada often. The best way to smoke weed on the road? Use an apple bong. Easy to make, easy to ditch. And a healthy snack too!

Check back next week for more behind-the-scenes action with Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Testament and Huntress!

Ladies, stay cool.

Hey Revolver!

Huntress is now on tour with Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage and Testament. We're blazing through North America and having a killer time. Since the last time I wrote, we've stormed stages in Columbus, Detroit, Chicago, Kansas City, Grand Prairie, Socorro and Denver. The pace at which this tour moves is rapid, but that doesn't prevent us having fun with our new tour buddies. Since we're the opening act, we learned quickly to remain humble and keep our humility. Especially when Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler has been hanging our dressing room sign in venue bathrooms across America. Or outside venues on Port-a-Potties.

I've also been hunting down food late night with Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe. I really admire his vocal approach. It's been inspiring to watch Randy perform and command the crowd nightly. I have a whole new respect and appreciation for all three metal bands on this tour. We watch from side stage, not only learning from the musicians, but also from their crews. Everyone is really helpful and efficient.

Killswitch Engage lit up the sold out Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on October 30. It's been exciting to see the audience react to Jesse Leach, having returned as frontman of KSE in 2012. There's still a steady buzz swirling around his presence. It's thrilling to perform in some of the most beautiful theatres in North America. The Argon Ballroom is indeed one of the most exquisite theatres I've ever seen. And all those ghosts whispering in the wings…

Now that Huntress is mid-tour, we're feeling a sense of newfound confidence. We understand the motion of the production and how to navigate through the intensity of a mega tour. Stay positive, stay cool and stay the fuck outta the way. You can't ever get too comfortable. Being self-reliant is vital when you're an opening act. We don't have crew or a merch person, so we must be on top of our game. And with all our responsibilities, Huntress must deliver a stellar performance nightly.

I have an incredible band who've become my family. None of this would be possible without them. It has been rewarding to see each of my band mates become stronger performers.  It's been a whirlwind for Huntress and we've all managed to stay sane. I feel that I've be able to control my emotions by surrendering to the road and ditching female drama. Sure, it creeps back at least once a month during the full moon and my period—they always coincide. I issue red alerts to the boys and typically lock myself in the van after shows for a three day span, with a steady supply of Xanax and weed. Truth!

Check back next week when my band and I attempt to work out with Chris and Willie Adler. I don't own sneakers—good thing I brought my stilettos.

Stay cool,
Jill Janus

Just in time for Halloween, goth-punk duo One-Eyed Doll has announced plans to release a remixed, remastered, reMONSTERED version of their 2008 album, Monster. Remixed at the studio of legendary, Grammy-award winning producer Sylvia Massy (Tool, System Of A Down, Johnny Cash), drums for all the songs were re-recorded by the group's current drummer Junior, who joined the band just after the original release in 2008. The release also features One-Eyed Doll's first-ever cover song as a bonus track.

To accompany the release, the band has released the music video for the ReMonstered version of fan-favorite "Be My Friend."  Directed by Patrick Kendall (Megadeth, Incubus, Sevendust), the video also features cameos by Mushroomhead's Waylon and Jeffrey Nothing.

If fans pre-order the physical CD, they will also receive an instant download of the full album. ReMonstered will be out on Christmas day and can be pre-ordered at http://music.oneeyeddoll.com

One-Eyed Doll will be touring the US with Mushroomhead through December 20, with dates soon to be announced.  Check www.oneeyeddoll.com for updates.
