Hear Boundaries Channel Killswitch Engage on Crushing New Song "Realize and Rebuild"

Connecticut metallic hardcore band offer up heavy and catchy new single

Boundaries are a metallic hardcore band from Connecticut who aren't interested in keeping a stagnant sound. The band's earlier material recalled the bone-snapping moshcore of peer groups like Knocked Loose, Chamber and Varials, and the song they dropped earlier this month, "Heaven's Broken Heart," definitely supplied the pit with ample swing parts.

However, their latest cut that we're premiering today, "Realize and Rebuild," takes a different route. The lead single from their forthcoming album Burying Brightness, the track is packed with soaring guitar leads and anthemic clean vocals that bring to mind early 2000s staples like Killswitch Engage and Bleeding Through. It's definitely steeped in that pivotal era of metalcore greatness, but there's also an unexpected spoken word bridge in the middle that wouldn't sound out of place on a Being as an Ocean record from 10 years back.

It's a fascinating meld of crushing sounds, and you can hear it above via the official music video.

"Most of the record is about one person I sadly watched lose himself," says frontman Matthew McDougal. "On 'Realize and Rebuild' I'm coming to terms with regretting how our relationship was and how to now move forward. It's very easy to be like, 'If only I knew what I know now, it could've been better.' The song is about internally addressing the fact 'wasted time is just wasted time.'

"I could sit around and keep thinking about it, but I found solidarity on my own. I now understand the situation he was in, and I didn't get it before. I was too young and too naive, addiction is a nightmare and it took him from me. It's too late to do anything for that relationship. Looking back I realize when he was calling at three in the morning to talk about nothing, it was his way to look for comfort, of reaching out. I can keep it in mind going forward while trying to not lose and let down more loved ones."

Burying Brightness is out October 14th via 3DOT Recordings and is now available for pre-order.
