Adult Swim are making a Metalocalypse movie? That's pretty brutal. Everyone's favorite cartoon death-metal band, Dethklok, will be reuniting for a brand new feature film that's helmed by the show's creators, Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha.

The flick is the first new chunk of Metalocalypse content since the show — which first aired in 2003 and ran for four badass seasons — concluded in 2013 with a half-hour special. Of course, the series' fictional rock stars — Nathan Explosion, Skwisgaar Skwigelf, Pickles, William Murderface and Toki Wartooth — were also transformed into a very real band who've sold one million album-equivalent units and toured with the likes of Mastodon and Lamb of God.

No longer a relic of Adult Swim's coveted aughts-era lineup, Metalocalypse is returning for a whole new adventure with the following official synopsis:

"The power-hungry TRIBUNAL unveils their secret and deadly 'Falconback Project' as the world grows in embattled chaos and the menacing Doomstar breaches the Earth's atmosphere while the mysterious and twisted dissent of a band member threatens the future of Dethklok. Picking up directly after the heroic rescue of Toki Wartooth: Can Dethklok choose between their egos and the greater good of the world to embark on a gauntlet of dangers that will try their very souls and finally write the song that will be their salvation?"

There's no timeline for when the film will arrive, but Adult Swim have confirmed that it will first be released via Blu-ray, DVD and transactional video on demand (TVOD) for a 90-day window before it hits HBO Max and Adult Swim. In addition to Metalocalypse, the channel will be producing full-length films for two other cult hits, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and the Venture Bros.
