After declaring "the party is over" just a week ago to his followers on Instagram while checked into a rehab facility, Jackass star Bam Margera has left the program and taken to the social media platform again to explain the news to his fans with a series of eight handwritten notes.
"Dear assholes who want to talk shit about my sobriety (the truth and nothing but), I checked into a rehab in the Bay Area for alcohol," he starts the letter, following with a recollection of his past sobriety spanning January to July 2018 after which he relapsed following being robbed at gunpoint in Colombia. The letter addresses his friends' sobriety, goes into a bit of his drinking habits, then delves into his confusion as to why he was even in rehab while watching those around him go through horrible detox.
Margera explains that his biggest trigger for drinking is boredom, which he was experiencing half of the time while checked in to the facility, he says. "By day number 5 in rehab I realized when I am bored is when I drink," he writes in the letter. "In rehab I am bored 50 percent of the time so that's when I figured out that when boredom sets in and alcohol is off limits that's when I get creative as fuck, an explosion of good ideas, exercise, skate, workout, yoga, hike, bike way more. Because I don't sit stagnant."
"So now I am exited with ideas and energy and creation which makes me have no temptation to drink," he explains, "because I am so busy not being bored." Since he left rehab, Margera has been busy posting numerous updates, including giveaways of his Bam Collection jewelry and snaps of his wife Nikki's new attempt at creating a lingerie line. At press time, he was in San Diego skating with professional skateboarder Danny Way. You can read his recent notes in full below.
