Battle Demons as Lemmy in Video Game 'Victor Vran,' Available Now on Nintendo Switch

Players use Motörhead singer's bass guitar as evil-slaying weapon

Before his death in 2015, Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister teamed with Haemimont Games to work on an action role-playing video game titled Victor Vran: Overkill Edition. Today marks the official launch of the game on Nintendo Switch with Wired Productions. The dramatic trailer for the game features a husky-voiced actor directing players to "choose [your] weapons and demon powers wisely," before launching into an overview of Motörhead: Through the Ages, an expansion where players can put down their swords to "become" Lemmy and battle hordes of demons using Kilmister's signature bass guitar.

It's no secret that the famously mutton-chopped rocker was a fervent fan of video games. His final years were in large part spent drinking Jack and Cokes at the Rainbow Bar and Grill on Los Angeles' Sunset Strip, where he'd post up in front of a video poker machine and play for hours, pausing occasionally to talk and pose with curious fans. In their official statement regarding his death, the surviving members of Motörhead reported Kilmister even spent his last day alive in front of his favorite game from the Rainbow before succumbing to the aggressive cancer that would kill him just two days after his diagnosis.

Victor Vran isn't the first appearance of the singer in a video game. Back in 1992, Kaitsu Software's only ever game, Motörhead, was released. The now-antiquated game relied on drinking beer to restore player health, and the point of the game was to beat up other musicians from non-rock genres of music. Kilmister also voiced a character fittingly called The Kill Master in the 2009 action-adventure game Brütal Legend, which also boasted the vocal talents of Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Halford, Lita Ford and Jack Black.

Victor Vran: Overkill Edition is out on now and available for all gaming consoles.
