Code Orange have shared an official letter from Tom Wolf, governor of their home state of Pennsylvania, recognizing the Pittsburgh band's "remarkable contributions to music." Wolf's correspondence praises the band's dedication, discipline and positivity, going on to congratulate the band on their Best Metal Song Grammy nomination for the title track of last year's LP Forever.
"Music transcends culture, age, and race, uniting communities," the letter reads. "Since 1959, the Recording Academy has honored the outstanding work of musicians, writers, producers, and performers from across the globe. You have proven your dedication to learning and honing your creative skills. Through your passion, you have cultivated the important characteristics of determination and discipline that are necessary for success. You have generously shared your shared your extraordinary talents through your time and hard work. As a Grammy Award nominee, you serve as an example to all by displaying the positive impact music can have on the lives of all individuals. I commend you for your inspiring talent, virtuosity, and commitment to the arts. I am certain you will continue to represent Pennsylvania with a great distinction for many years."
Sharing the governor's remarks — official envelope and all — via Twitter, Code Orange wrote, "Thank you governor; please prepare our office in the big house," signing the letter as "the thinners of the herd" — with a knife emoji, of course.
Code Orange have been quite active in recent weeks, dropping the stand-alone song "Only One Way" for Adult Swim's singles series. Last week, the band shared a Nine Inch Nails–flavored remix of the aforementioned track by guitarist Shade Balderose, titled "only1(the hard way)."
