Deafheaven and Doomriders bassist Chris Johnson (pictured above, center, with the former band) was recently in a nasty bicycle accident that resulted in some serious injuries requiring expensive treatment. Johnson says on the GoGetFunding page set up to help with the musician's growing bills, "This is a fundraiser to help cover medical costs from a recent bicycle accident, which resulted in me losing everything from my dignity (lol) to some teeth and beyond." Seemingly hesitant to request help, he continues, "I've had a few close friends suggest that I do something like this to help cover some of the expenses, so here we are, BUT, I'm going to work for it. "

At press time, 38 backers have raised $2,750 of the #10,000 goal to help get Johnson back on his feet and smiling. A bloodied shot of him waving from a hotel room is featured on the crowdfunding page, the tattooed musician covered in gnarly scrapes and looking rather downtrodden after his accident. The bassist took on his role in Deafheaven in 2017 after the departure of longtime member Stephen Clark, and appears on the group most recent effort, 2018's Ordinary Corrupt Human Love

Fans and supporters can make their tax-deductible donations here. No word yet on whether this situation will affect their touring schedule, but Deafheaven are set to co-headline an upcoming tour alongside Baroness with Zeal & Ardor opening.
