Elon Musk called Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor a "crybaby" for his decision to leave Twitter over the weekend. In a November 19th interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reznor called the current state of Twitter under Musk's leadership an "embarrassment" and revealed that he was planning to leave the app imminently (which he did, disabling his personal account on Sunday November 20th).

"I'm about to depart," Reznor told THR. "We don't need the arrogance of the billionaire class to feel like they can just come in and solve everything." He added that he was considering leaving Twitter even before Musk took over, so this isn't a sudden decision on Reznor's part. "Even without [Musk] involved, I just find that it has become such a toxic environment. For my mental health, I need to tune out. I don't feel good being there anymore."

This afternoon (November 21st), the world's richest man — who recently purchased Twitter, shed approximately half of its workforce, and just allowed previously-banned users like Donald Trump and Kanye West back on the app — fired a shot at the industrial-metal titan in a completely unrelated Twitter thread about Trump's controversial return to the platform.

"Breaking ... 48 hours since Elon Musk reinstated President Trump's Twitter account and the world still hasn't ended," wrote the Twitter user "@cattturd2." For whatever reason, Musk decided to reply with a juvenile taunt toward Reznor: "And it turns out that Trent 'nine inch nails' Reznor is actually a crybaby," he wrote alongside a crying-laughing emoji.

Elsewhere in that thread, someone with less than 1,000 followers responded to Musk's pithy comment with, "You are stupid idiot. Trent Resnor [sic] is one of the best musicians ever."

"I like his music tbh," Musk responded. "But maybe Etsy is more his style." The joke is that Etsy is an online retailer that mostly serves as a webstore for independent arts and crafts vendors — I.E. not a draining battlefield of social and political discourse like Twitter. Hysterical, right?

So Musk is a Nine Inch Nails fan and he thinks Reznor is a "crybaby." Hard to decide which one of those facts is more unappetizing to read.
