'Game of Thrones' Meets Metallica: See Daenerys Go Mad to "For Whom the Bell Tolls"

New fan-cut scene of the Mother of Dragons burning King's Landing is next-level epic

A lot of people were pretty shocked and appalled by the latest episode of Game of Thrones, and — spoiler alert! — Daenerys Targaryen's decision to burn all of King's Landing, despite the city surrendering to her after she set the Lannisters' artillery and navy ablaze. People around the world kinda lost their shit over this development, you know, her having been a merciful leader and freer of slaves for most of the season's run and all. Seeing an entire city of people burn away was a pretty bummer sight, but luckily Reddit has found a way to make the entire thing go down a little better with the help of Metallica.

It's the most obvious choice of song for said scenario, but "For Whom the Bell Tolls" does line up pretty damn well with the horrors that unfold. That tension-filled intro works perfectly as characters look on at the destruction, and leads well into the beginning solo with Drogon flaming all of the innocents. As the Northern Army decides to continue the fight, the song kicks into its iconic verses, a true battle of forces that rage on. Maybe if the showrunners actually played the Metallica classic, the scene would've gone down easier for viewers. Probably not for the parents that named their kids Khaleesi, though. Judge for yourself.
