In Revolver'new Dec/Jan 2019 issue — which is on newsstands now and available via our webstore — we explore the theme of "Dreams and Nightmares" with the help of King Diamond, Myrkur, Alex Grey, Robert Englund, City Morgue, Venom Prison and others. Since the topic proved particularly compelling and revealing, we've asked some more artists about their dreams and nightmares — including Michigan retro hard rockers Greta Van Fleet. Below, drummer Danny Wagner relays his nocturnal visions — from paralysis to sushi — and explains why he believes dreams are "chemically" good for the body.

DESCRIBE THE MOST RECENT DREAM YOU HAD.
I dreamed recently our engineer Al Sutton and I were out getting conveyor belt sushi, in Japan. Must be because we're off to Japan in a week or so!

WHAT GIVES YOU NIGHTMARES?
I think what gives me nightmares is the unknown, and what is not for certain, therefore sometimes triggering an exaggerated disposition of thoughts.

WHAT'S THE MOST TERRIFYING NIGHTMARE YOU'VE EVER HAD?
I had a nightmare that involved an accident costing me my ability to use motor skills. I woke up pretty thankful that morning.

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECURRING DREAMS OR NIGHTMARES?
As into dreaming as I am, I find it ironic that I have yet to have a recurring dream of any sort.

HAVE ANY OF YOUR DREAMS OR NIGHTMARES COME TRUE?
I haven't had any literal dreams or nightmares come true, but I have had plenty of dreams involving music later on in life come true. Thankfully most of the nightmares haven't, I might not be alive!

DO YOU BELIEVE YOUR DREAMS HAVE MEANING? DO THEY HAVE A PURPOSE?
Yes, I am the type that believes that dreams do have meaning. I think it is the optimist in me. At the very least, I believe that dreaming, chemically, is great for the body to experience, and great for the brain. Dreaming can bring you closer to yourself sometimes, and as a traveling musician, that can be helpful.

HAVE YOUR DREAMS EVER INSPIRED OR INFLUENCED YOUR MUSIC?
My dreams have never consciously wandered into any of my writing, but I do find it important to write as if there are no boundaries, such as a dream. In a way, our best music to me is a wonderful dream. I don't completely find myself awake until it's fully written.

WHO WOULD BE YOUR DREAM MUSICIAN TO COLLABORATE WITH, AND WHY?
My dream musician to collaborate with is Paul McCartney. I feel this because he is a writer of many different styles and genres, and I hope to relate as a musician one day.

WHAT'S YOUR DREAM FOR 2019?
I dream that in 2019 music will become meaningful to people in the way that it is to me. It will carry memories and spark creativity of others. I dream that music's relationship with technology reaches a level of purity.
