In Revolver'new Dec/Jan 2019 issue — which is on newsstands today (January 8th) and available via our webstore — we explore the theme of "Dreams and Nightmares" with the help of King Diamond, Myrkur, Alex Grey, Robert Englund, City Morgue, Venom Prison and others. Since the topic proved particularly compelling and revealing, we've asked some more of our favorite artists about their dreams and nightmares — including Incite frontman Richie Cavalera, who is gearing up for the January 25th release of his groove-metal band's new album, Built to Destroy, on MinusHead Records. The singer shared visions, both conscious and subconscious, of death, Mike Patton and Slayer's curtain call.

WHAT'S THE LAST DREAM YOU HAD?
RICHIE CAVALERA I was lost in some city in Europe, with no clue as to how I got there. The next thing I know I was in a hostel being sold for torture. I woke up just as they were cutting my throat.

WHAT GIVES YOU NIGHTMARES?
I don't have them often, 'cause I smoke weed, but when I don't smoke weed for a day or so, I will get the craziest nightmares ever — and a lot of them.

WHAT'S THE MOST TERRIFYING NIGHTMARE YOU'VE EVER HAD?
The worst nightmare I ever had was when I was in my bunk sleeping on tour. I dreamt that the bus crashed and everyone died. I woke up screaming 'cause it's something you always fear about touring.

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECURRING DREAMS OR NIGHTMARES?
No, I've been lucky — or unlucky, depending on the dream. [Laughs]

HAVE ANY OF YOUR DREAMS OR NIGHTMARES COME TRUE?
Ya, I've had a few come true. Kinda feels like déjà vu when it happens. I dreamt a family member died, and when I woke up my older brother had been killed in a car wreck.

DO YOU BELIEVE YOUR DREAMS HAVE MEANING? HAVE YOUR DREAMS EVER INSPIRED OR INFLUENCED YOUR MUSIC?
Yes, I do I believe our dreams have meaning! It's either you've lived this life before and it's just a big dream. Or it's a warning of something wrong in life or with your body. I'm sure they have a purpose. Dreams inspired the song "Awakening" from our first album [2009's The Slaughter]. It's about dying from alcohol. It's a dream I had during my party years .

WHO WOULD BE YOUR DREAM MUSICIAN TO COLLABORATE WITH?
I'd say Mike Patton. The dude is incredible vocally and just a total one of a kind.

WHAT'S YOUR DREAM FOR 2019?
To rock with Slayer before they retire.
