'Jay and Silent Bob Reboot': See Wild New Trailer With Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, More

Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes reprise stoner-hero roles in star-studded film featuring Joe Manganiello, Chris Hemsworth, Rosario Dawson, Method Man, more

It's been a while since we've seen stoner saints Jay and Silent Bob in a movie, their last live-action film appearance being 2006's Clerk's II. Now, writer/director/actor Kevin Smith is bringing them back for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, which looks like it's going to be full of all the comic-book worship, stoner humor and nerd-culture commentary for which the director is known.

A trailer for the movie dropped today, July 18th, as part of San Diego Comic-Con 2019, and it kicks off with a showdown between police and the duo at the former site of the video store from Clerks, now a "Cocksmoker Chicken Sandwich" restaurant. Jay comes out with weed plants in his hands, and drops his pants to show he's tucking his dick a la Silence of the Lambs and Clerks II. The movie then shifts to the duo finding out that the movie based on the comic book they inspired, Bluntman and Chronic, is now being rebooted into a new movie, and that they have to stop it. It's a pretty hilarious commentary on both the endless cycle of comic reboot films, and also a literal beat-for-beat reboot of the main plot of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back where they had to stop the production of the original movie.

All hell breaks loose from there, as the trailer reveals a plethora of cameos from big-name actors, much like the first Jay and Silent Bob film. Metal fanboy (and sword-wielding heartthrob) Joe Manganiello shows up briefly as a court bailiff, with judge Craig Robinson presiding, as everyone begins bantering about how the first movie sucked (clearly a self-referential dig at the first Jay and Silent Bob feature). Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Chris Hemsworth, and Smith's daughter Harley Quinn also show up along with a host of Smith-movie staples like Jason Lee, Joey Lauren Adams, Rosario Dawson and more reprising former roles.

And in some kind of stoner-movie Avengers Endgame shit, Jay and Silent Bob end the trailer crossing paths with Method Man from Wu-Tang Clan and Redman who look like they're reprising their roles from How High? It's going to be fun.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is scheduled to hit theaters on October 15, 2019.
