Marilyn Manson to Play Viking Death-Metal Singer on 'American Gods' TV Series

For the upcoming season three of American Gods, the Starz fantasy series' showrunners just made a super smart casting choice: Marilyn Manson will be joining the show, playing the lead singer of an Amon Amarth-esque Viking death-metal band, a selection that could probably only be topped by the actual lead singer of actual Viking death-metal band Amon Amarth. Said fictional group is called Blood Death (great!) and their music acts as a source of power for Mr. Wedensday, a.k.a. the Old God Odin. Manson's run will reportedly last four episodes.

"As a long-time admirer of his estimable talent as an author, artist, musician and actor, it is dope indeed to be working with Mr. Manson in Season 3 of American Gods," showrunner Chic Eglee enthused to Deadline. "Bringing his specific energy, wit and boundless enthusiasm for all-things-Neil Gaiman to the role of Johan, a Norse 'berserker' in service to Odin, his performance promises to be disturbing, original, and uniquely entertaining." No word yet as to on when season three will kick off, but we hope Manson is brushing up on his battle-axe-wielding skills.
