Congratulations are in order for Maynard James Keenan. The TOOL, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer frontman, winemaker, author and all-around Renaissance man has reached a major milestone in one of his many pursuits: a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

"New Chapter. Thank you all for helping me write the previous," Keenan wrote on Instagram, captioning a photo of his new belt along with a bottle of his 2019 Nagual del SENSEI wine.

A longtime student of the martial arts, the TOOL singer's dedication to jiu-jitsu was documented in Revolver's 2017 "The Art of Work" video series — watch below, and see posts from his wife Jen, fellow BJJ practitioner Ty Gay and Keenan himself about the achievement.

Next up for Keenan, TOOL will kick off their 2024 tour Wednesday in Baltimore, then later this year, he will celebrate his 60th birthday with the Sessanta tour featuring A Perfect Circle, Primus and Puscifer.
