'Metal Lords': See Trailer for 'Game of Thrones' Co-Creator's Netflix Metal Movie

A coming-of-age hesher tale with music helmed by Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello

Last year, D.B. Weiss — a.k.a. one of the dudes behind HBO's smash Game of Thrones adaptation — announced that his first feature film after signing a mega-deal with Netflix to basically write and produce whatever he wants is a coming-of-age hesher tale called Metal Lords. Weiss, being a legit metalhead who got Mastodon's Brann Dailor a cameo in GoT, wrote and co-produced the flick with Peter Sollett (Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist) in the director's chair and Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello tapped as Executive Music Producer. Today (March 10th), Netflix has shared the first official trailer for Metal Lords, and it looks like a funny and wholesome story about the drama that ensues in a high-school metal band.

The flick stars Jaeden Martell (Knives Out, It), Isis Hainsworth (Misbehaviour, Emma), newcomer Adrian Greensmith — a student at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London — Brett Gelman (Fleabag), Michelle Fang and others. It hits the streaming service on April 8th. Watch the trailer above and read Netflix's official synopsis below.

"Two kids want to start a heavy metal band in a high school where exactly two kids care about heavy metal. Hunter (Adrian Greensmith) is a diehard metal fan —is there any other kind?— who knows his history and can shred. His dream in life is to win at the upcoming Battle of the Bands. He enlists his best friend Kevin (Jaeden Martell) to man the drums.

But with schoolmates more interested in Bieber than Black Sabbath, finding a bassist is a struggle. Until Kevin overhears Emily (Isis Hainsworth) slaying on her cello. The motley crew must contend with school, parents, hormones and teen angst while trying to get along long enough for Skullf*cker to win the Battle of the Bands."
