The noted philanthropists and dedicated family men of Metallica are combining their love of kids and passion for charity with their latest colorful endeavor: a children's book titled The ABCs of Metallica

A "rhyming, illustrated history" of the band, the volume was written by Howie Abrams and illustrated by Michael "Kaves" McLeer.  The two last collaborated on Hip-Hop Alphabet, a work that followed a similar format as this new creation while taking on the history of rap music. Abrams is no stranger to writing about the heavier side of music, as well, having co-wrote The Merciless Book of Metal Lists with Sacha Jenkins, as well as Misfit Summer Camp: 20 Years on the Road with the Vans Warped Tour with Kevin Lyman.

Proceeds from the sales of the book will benefit Metallica's charity the All Within My Hands foundation. The Bay Area thrashers have really ramped up their work with the organization on their World Wired Tour, donating thousands in each city stop to local food banks and holding fundraisers like November 2018's Helping Hands … Live & Acoustic at the Masonic event in San Francisco that led to the release of a double album that also raised money for their cause.

Find out more about All Within My Hands and their mission on the organization's official website, and visit Metallica.com/abcs to pre-order the upcoming book or a bundle that includes a copy along with either a children's or adult-sized T-shirt. Packages are expected to ship out November 26th, just in time for holiday gift-giving.
