One of the the biggest TV scenes of the summer happens during the Stranger Things season four finale when Eddie Munson — the show's Dio backpatch-wearing high-school hesher — battles the show's big bad Vecna by shredding along to Metallica's "Master of Puppets." Since it aired, the 1986 thrash classic has rocketed up the Spotify global chart and sparked an enthusiastic reaction from Metallica themselves, who formally welcomed anyone who's just now finding their band through the show into the "Metallica family," and even posted a TikTok duet of them playing along to Munson's scene.
Of course, a huge reason why the scene is so effective is because of the guy who plays Munson, Joseph Quinn. The rising actor said he listened to "a lot of heavy metal" to prepare for his role, and it looks like he also put a great deal of effort into practicing his fretboard moves with the signature B.C. Rich Warlock he plays in the show. A new video posted by the Stranger Things writers Twitter account shows behind-the-scenes footage of Quinn riffing along to "Master of Puppets."
Captioned "practice makes perfect," the clip displays Quinn's impressive knack for nailing James Hetfield's virtuosic down-picking, and it shows him really getting in-touch with his instrument by flailing about and letting loose like a true metalhead — all without missing a note.
