New 'Beavis and Butt-Head' Episodes Coming to Comedy Central

Mike Judge: "It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again"

Beavis and Butt-Head are coming back! This time on Comedy Central, Pitchfork reports. The network has ordered two seasons of Mike Judge's cult classic cartoon plus "additional spin-offs and specials." Judge will write and produce the latest Beavis and Butt-Head revival — and, of course, voice the dynamic duo. "It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again," he said succinctly in a Comedy Central press release. Indeed.

This isn't the first time the show has been resurrected. Beavis and Butt-Head originally had a four-year run on MTV in the Nineties, then in 2011, it was revived for one season, during which the two sophomoric metalheads, sadly, made fun of Pantera and Morbid Angel exactly zero times. According to the press release, "In this new iteration, 'Beavis' and 'Butt-Head' are entering a whole new Gen Z world." As to what that exactly means in terms of heavy-music representation, we'll just have to wait and see.

"Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation," added Chris McCarthey, President of Entertainment & Youth Group at ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks, "and we can't wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own."
