With Spider-Man: Enter The Spiderverse and the Playstation 4 Spider-Man game both released last year, it's a pretty great time to be a fan of the friendly neighborhood webswinger. Even better, Marvel Studios and Sony have released the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, the sequel to 2017's Spider-Man Homecoming.
The trailer teases a movie that appears to stick with the tone of its predecessor, showing Tom Holland as Peter Parker crossed between doing regular teen stuff and acting as an Avenger as he prepares for a European vacation. His hijinks are soundtracked by the Ramones' iconic "I Wanna Be Sedated" as he bounces around Italy and London and flirts with MJ, played by Zendaya. Parker's fun is quickly derailed, as Avengers organizer Nick Fury, still portrayed by the cool-but-stern Samuel L Jackson, enlists him for some work abroad. The trailer then jettisons into a montage of action: London Bridge is under attack, comics villains Hydro Man and Sandman wreak havoc elsewhere, and Jake Gylenhaal makes his superhero film debut as the baddie Mysterio, who fights Hydro Man at the end. Spider-Man: Far From Home is due for release this summer.
