See Christian Bale Thank Satan in Golden Globes Acceptance Speech

The Church of Satan approved

Known for his shocking ability to transform his body and mannerisms into those of damn near any character, intense method actor Christian Bale managed to reach yet another milestone by thanking the dark lord himself for his Best Actor win at last night's 2019 Golden Globe Awards, thus cementing his status as honorary metalhead and general heathen.

After the announcement of his win for playing former vice president Dick Cheney in the film Vice, Bale took the stage to deliver a charming and hilarious two-minute speech where he joked the director had to "find somebody who can be absolutely charisma-free and reviled by everybody, so he went, 'Ah, it's gotta be Bale.'"

The actor then launched into his now-infamous bit, saying, "Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role" as the crowd erupted into laughter. Twitter immediately jumped on the speech, and within minutes it was a top trending topic, with even the official Church of Satan's account clamoring to acknowledge the actor's nod.

"To us, Satan is a symbol of pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential," the organization tweeted. "As Mr. Bale's own talent and skill won him the award, this is fitting. Hail Christian! Hail Satan!" Whoever runs the account also followed this up by calling Bale "the best Batman ever."
