Plus, percussionist Yoyoka Soma unleashes stunning cover of "The Pretender"

Philanthropy and fan interaction seem to be the driving forces behind Dave Grohl's continued dedication to every aspect of his musical career, and his latest token of appreciation comes in the form of a very special message for a very special young student of his monster drumming influences.

Nine-year-old Yoyoka Soma, a drumming prodigy whose YouTube channel shows the girl tackling covers from the likes of Led Zeppelin and Queen, appeared today, May 14th, for the second time on The Ellen Show to chat with the jovial host and show off her remarkable skills with a cover of the Foo Fighters jam "The Pretender."

Citing Grohl as one of her favorite skin-smashers for "the sound that his drums make" and "really heavy groove," Soma is then surprised with a special personalized message from the former Nirvana drummer himself, who tells her, "I've seen you play 'The Pretender' before, and you're amazing. So keep it up, because the world needs more drummers," and ends his brief video with a big smile.

Check out the already-advanced little drummer's YouTube channel, ranging from the covers mentioned earlier and much more to improvisational clips that'll make fellow drummers wish they'd never sat behind the kit in the first place.
