See Haunting Trailer for New Jim Carrey Thriller Featuring Myrkur Song

Danish extreme-metal project's "Skøgen Skulle Dø" soundtracks 'Dark Crimes' teaser

Two years after its initial premiere in Europe, the Jim Carrey-led detective drama Dark Crimes is finally seeing release in the United States. A new trailer for the film has just been revealed, and it's pretty damn metal — not just because the plot seems gritty as fuck, but because it's partially soundtracked by Myrkur's "Skøgen Skulle Dø." The Danish musician's M standout can be heard briefly in the clip's opening moments, portending the moribund madness to come.

Dark Crimes will premiere on DirecTV on April 19th, with its theatrical release to follow on May 11th. Based on a true story, Alexandros Avranas' film stars Carrey as Tadek, a detective who stumbles upon a connection between a fictitious true-crime novel and a real-life unsolved mystery. The cast is rounded out by Marton Csokas, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Agata Kulesza and others.

Myrkur — a.k.a. Amalie Bruun — released her last album Mareridt last year. She's currently on tour in Europe, with dates scheduled through late July. Find a full itinerary here, and be sure to read our interview with Bruun about nightmares, black-metal purists, Mareridt and more.
