See Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter Announce New 'Bill & Ted' Movie Coming in 2020

Actors confirm iconic headbanging characters will return for third installment of beloved comedy franchise

For the first time since 1991, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are ready to step back into their comedic roles as boneheaded rockers Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted Theodore Logan for the long-awaited third installment in the duo's movie series, Bill & Ted 3: Face the Music.

Coming in the form of a rehearsed announcement in which they trade off parts while standing in front of the Hollywood Bowl – "Where we'll never play" says Winter – to let fans know the coming film will be in production this summer.

"We want to say thank you to you, the fans," announces Reeves, his palms cupped in gratitude before the two begin trading off words for the finishing phrase, "It looks like we might actually, hopefully, make a movie this summer."

After confirming the movie's title, the time-traveling twosome give credit to fans who've long asked for this reunion to happen. They end the brief but gracious clip by reminding everybody watching to, of course, "be excellent."

Bill & Ted 3: Face the Music is slated for an August 21, 2020 release. A press release synopsis hints at the plot of the film, which focuses on the now middle-aged protagonists who have "yet to fulfill their rock'n'roll destiny" and thus set out to save humanity with their sole song and "bring harmony to the universe." Old friends and some musical cameos are expected to show up as well, making this a truly radical time waiting to happen.
