See Lzzy Hale, Nita Strauss Open WWE's First All-Female Pay-Per-View With New Song

The WWE made history last night by hosting the first-ever all-women pay-per-view event, Evolution. To kick off the show were two talented female rockers, Halestorm's frontwoman Lzzy Hale and virtuosic shredder Nita Strauss (of Alice Cooper's band). The two are no strangers to performing in conjunction with the wrestling company (see Hale's appearance at NXT Takeover New Orleans from earlier this year), but the song "Evolution," played last night, was written specifically for the event, making it a special treat for wrestling and music fans alike.

"It's absolutely an honor, and we know this is history in the making," said Hale in a backstage interview, continuing, "Just being around all these strong women — we're incredibly excited." Strauss chimes in, "We're not worthy!" When asked what they thought this kind of event could mean for women worldwide, Hale answered, "For me, I think that it's such an amazing thing for women to see other women being strong ... I don't think you realize until you're out there how important it is, but there were these little girls right next to us, over the railing, just watching us. It's such an important thing for women to see."
