Megadeth's longtime mascot Vic Rattlehead has been given a facelift for the thrash band's latest tour, which is currently making its way through the European summer festival circuits.
The band has just posted two videos that show the hands-on process required to make Vic come alive. Through time-lapse footage we see the artists as they go through every stage of manufacturing the costume: from creating the molds to putting the final appointments on the iconic mask inspired by the Vic that appears on Megadeth's 1986 classic, Peace Sells … but Who's Buying — the original cover artwork for which was created by famed illustrator Ed Repka.
"For the first time, Vic became a real character with a personality," Repka told us of his Peace Sells design. "I tried to infuse some of the cockiness of Dave Mustaine into Vic's body language."
2018 also marks Megadeth's 35th anniversary, and in celebration they've just released a reissue of their 1985 debut Killing Is My Business … And Business Is Good. The record — dubbed Killing Is My Business … And Business Is Good – The Final Kill — arrived on June 8 via Century Media/Legacy Recordings and features the original album remixed by Mark Lewis (Trivium, Death Angel, Devildriver, Whitechapel) and remastered by Ted Jensen, plus seven live audio tracks from VHS tapes found in Dave Mustaine's attic.
