Hostel director Eli Director serves as host and curator for the upcoming AMC series Eli Roth's History of Horror and he's brought together a veritable army of darkness for the show, including Stephen King, Get Out director Jordan Peele, actors like Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis and The Exorcist's Linda Blair, and rock-and-shock luminaries such as Rob Zombie and Slash. The seven-episode show is set to premiere October 14th on the AMC network, and promises to "bring together the masters of horror — the storytellers and stars who define the genre — to explore its biggest themes and reveal the inspirations and struggles behind its past and present." In the teaser above, said masters discuss some of the most traumatizing horror movies they've seen, citing formative-age screenings of The Exorcist, Jaws and more.
Rob Zombie has also unveiled a separate clip from History of Horror in which he discusses the first zombie movie he recalls watching. "I think I saw Night of the Living Dead first ... I think I was like 16 and it was playing in the next town," he says. "It was at midnight, so I rode my bike two hours in the dark by myself, watched the movie, and I was like, 'This is the greatest things that was ever made.'" While Zombie has previously identified Godzilla as the first monster movie he ever watched, it seems as though this cinematic experience had a more profound impact on his eventual creative output and, obviously, his surname.
