See Thor Battle Dragons, Demons in Trailer for New Amon Amarth Mobile Game

Viking-metal outfit's Eighties-style video game features band's tunes reworked in 8-bit style

Viking-metal crushers Amon Amarth have launched a new, self-titled mobile video game. Developed by the band in conjunction with Ride & Crash Games AB, the old-school platformer finds fans guiding Thor, the Scandinavian god of thunder, through a four-world, 12-level quest to rid Midgard of evil; armed with the legendary hammer Mjolnir and the power of the heavens, the player does battle with dragons, demons and more. Keeping in line with the retro theme, the game's soundtrack features 8-bit reworkings of 13 different Amon Amarth songs. The keys to victory, as outlined by the band, are as follows "Grab Mjolnir. Blast Amon Amarth. Save Midgard."

Sounds easy enough, right? Check out some gameplay footage above and see for yourself. "Amon Amarth" is available now for iOS and Android via the App Store for $8.99.

Amon Amarth, who released their album Jomsviking back in March, aren't the only metal band who've put out a mobile game this year. Back in July, Judas Priest released "Judas Priest: Road to Valhalla," in which players fight off hordes of baddies with weaponized versions of the Rock Hall nominees' songs.
