See Tom Hardy Transform Into Evil Alien Symbiote in Gripping New 'Venom' Trailer

Latest teaser from Marvel antihero franchise will expunge any memory of 'Spider-Man 3' from your brain

Before we talk about this new Venom trailer, can we talk about how awful the first incarnation of the symbiote behemoth was in Spider-Man 3? Topher Grace should not have been playing a hulking alien, and the CGI dug past the uncanny valley into a ravine of ridiculousness. The mid-2000s were truly a wasteland.

Now? We're finally seeing a take on Marvel antihero Venom that isn't completely embarrassing and unwatchable. In the new trailer for the film, we see the alien symbiote crash-land on earth and get captured by some kind of evil science laboratory. Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock, a reporter looking to uncover what this company is up to, only to find himself infected by the alien.

The symbiote's iconic black tendrils augment his body, making his arms giant and able to throw goons out of windows, even while riding a motorcycle. The trailer concludes with Brock's internal fight against the alien force, which results in his body being completely taken over by the substance, thus totally becoming Venom.

It's a badass trailer and gives us hope for the movie coming out October 5th. Check it out above.
