Tool are, of course, notorious pranksters, so when they played Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum on Halloween last night (see the full 13-song set list below), it was only natural that they would break out some seriously unhinged costumes.
For his part, singer Maynard James Keenan is always in costume onstage, so he stuck to his current concert outfit, which nods both to early U.K. punk and to Batman's arch-nemesis the Joker. Drummer Danny Carey manned the kit sans costume, but his apparent lack of Halloween spirit was more than made up for by guitarist Adam Jones and bassist Justin Chancellor.
The latter appeared as a big baby while holding down the low end, while the former took things next level, calling in some legit Hollywood FX to transform into Rainn Wilson's character, Dwight Schrute, from The Office. Landon Meier, a.k.a. "hyperfleshdude" on Instagram, was responsible for the "mind-boggling" half-mask. (As fans know, Jones has worked in makeup and special effects himself, with movies including Jurassic Park, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Ghostbusters II and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and 5 on his resume.) "It was really difficult to play 46&2 & stinkfist in this costume," the guitarist admitted in a post on social media showing off the getup, but it was well worth the effort, as you can see above and below.
