Slipknot Announce Signature No. 9 Iowa Whiskey

New craft spirit marks collaboration with Iowa-based Cedar Ridge Distillery

As if they weren't busy enough with a new album on the way and the Knotfest Roadshow kicking off soon, Iowa metal juggernaut Slipknot found some time out to release a signature craft spirit called Iowa No. 9 Whiskey (and a special reserve edition) in partnership with the Swisher-based Cedar Ridge Distillery.

Coming August 10th, just one day after the release date of their sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, the whiskey marks a collaboration between the 'Knot and another Iowan institution. Percussionist and founding member M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan describes the partnership as "two groups of people born and raised in Iowa, and committed to quality and hard work."

Slipknot's Iowa No. 9 Whiskey is made using corn grown in their home state, as well. Crahan continues, "We collaborated on No. 9 Whiskey, which in addition to Iowa corn, gets some extra spice from its rye content. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Live life, and always be safe."

Founder and owner of Cedar Ridge Jeff Quint says the creative process with the band was "easy" and "natural," noting, "As we came to know the Slipknot guys, we realized we share a lot of the core elements of a good Iowa foundation — these guys are very down-to-earth, hard-working and care deeply about their followers."

Special tastings and signings are planned around the whiskey's launch, after which point it will be available in all 50 U.S. states and on every North American stop of their fall tour. The 90 proof Iowa No. 9 Whiskey will retail for $39.99 a bottle, and it's 99 proof counterpart Iowa No. 9 Reserve will set you back $69.99.
