Back in the halcyon days of summer 2019, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff — a.k.a. the dudes behind HBO's smash Game of Thrones adaptation — signed a mega-deal with the Netflix, making it their creative home to write, produce and direct new series and movies. The first feature film to come out of the venture? Metal Lords, a coming-of-age story about two kids who want to start a heavy-metal band in a high school where exactly two kids care about heavy metal.

Written by Weiss, a noted metalhead who personally enlisted Mastodon's Brent Hinds and Brann Dailor for their Game of Thrones cameo, the film is set to be directed by Peter Sollett (Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist), and now, for extra metal cred, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has been brought on as the Executive Music Producer. (Morello knows Weiss, of course, from their epic 2019 jam on the GoT theme song.) The cast includes Jaeden Martell (Knives Out, It), Isis Hainsworth (Misbehaviour, Emma) and newcomer Adrian Greensmith — a student at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London — making his feature debut. No word yet on a release date, but stay tuned.
