Tool Troll Fans With Cricket Sounds for April Fool's Day

"Help I'm in an abusive relationship with TOOL," comments one follower

Tool have a long history of April Fool's Day pranks — from the time they faked a tour bus crash that left three members "critically injured in the hospital" (1997) to just two years ago, when they accused another group of stealing their "unfinished music" and even shared a YouTube video of the alleged "leak." Today, the group was back for another round, and while this time they didn't spread rumors of a band member splitting (as they did in 2001, with Danny Carey) or finding Jesus and putting their new record on hold (as they did in 2005: Maynard), 2019's stunt definitely came with a bite. Clearly trolling fans desperately awaiting their beyond-highly-anticipated new album — which will be Tool's first in 13 long years — while also seeming to poke fun at their own procrastination, the band posted a 37-minute clip of cricket noises to their Twitter account. Needlessly to say, fans who clicked hoping for a new song or music video were not entirely amused — or entirely surprised. "Help I'm in an abusive relationship with TOOL," responded one follower, speaking for all of us.
